What speeds are you getting?

Thought it might be interesting to share what network speeds we get in certain places. I.E. Uni, Public Spaces, Government buildings, Home, AirBnB, etc. I just checked the speeds for my Uni and they are abysmal on wifi with ethernet not being much better at only 3 MB/s down. What are you getting in your area Lain?

I live in Australia, which is well known for its below par internet speeds. I get an average of 1.5 MB/s on an ADSL2+ connection.

Currently 10kbps download speed. It's what my phone provider throttles my connection to, and I use this for tethering.

300 baud/s feels bad

I live downtown in a siliconvalley-type city with fiber optic, I get consistent 8Mb/s and during late night ill hit upwards of 15Mb/s.

Speed between what and what exactly? Your machine and ISP's gateway or abroad servers?

30 Mb/s here in the student centre... allegedly. I'm sometimes startled at how fast large files download anyway.

15 mbps download and 0.73 mbps upload... that's what i get for living in a soykafhole

my ISP throttles my internet, so sometimes I have 50-100 down, sometimes I have 1mb down. I know people with google fiber, and they get 10 down and 35 up (basic plan)

DL: 250kb/s UL: 60kb/s

It's supposed to be closer to 1,000 but not bad for less then 100$ a month.

Wifi in uni is slow, but that's probably because there's hundreds of devices annoying each other. In the dorms, I get 100/100 because that's what my ethernet card can do. I heard other people get 600/600 which is afaik About what cat5e can do.

Is this the brag thread? This is at home, Europe.

At some cafe in nanjing, currently playing a soft instrumental jazz cover of "My Heart Will Go On" over the speakers. All traffic behind the firewall is great but connecting to sites outside the country is slow. Also I'd recommend downloading speedtest-cli for faster speedtesting from the terminal, plus you can list / test against all the servers among other things.

Europe 10/2 mbits I don't think I could get anything this slow if I was a new subscriber at any provider in town.

paying for 10gbit but with a 1gbit switch, too lazy to change
