I didn't realise how easy it was to customize my firefox css. I'm also really satisfied with the colorscheme I made, though I feel it's not as good as others; it's really hard to make a good colorscheme that isn't based on only a few colors

John Rain · 2018-01-04 18:52

I'm using vi editing mode in bash
if you want to try that out, here's the PS1 string I'm using "┌─╼ \[\e[0;34m\]\u\[\e[1;35m\]::\[\e[0;34m\]\h \[\e[1;34m\]\w\[\e[0m\]\n──╼ "
this └[ins] is not part of PS1, it's displayed by readline and it indicates whether I'm in insert mode or command/normal mode (readline is the gnu lib in charge of handling input on the command line for bash and a lot of other cli programs, bash has nothing to do with this)
put this in your .bashrc to change readline settings for bash accordingly
set -o vi
bind 'set show-mode-in-prompt on'
bind 'set vi-ins-mode-string └[\1\e[34;1m\2ins\1\e[0m\2]'
bind 'set vi-cmd-mode-string └[\1\e[35;1m\2cmd\1\e[0m\2]' you can put those settings in ~/.inputrc instead if you want to apply them to all cli programs using readline like python, fdisk, etc (and if you do, don't forget to include /etc/inputrc)
and make sure you the latest version of readline (you should have at least 7.* I think), since you can't change the mode indicator string on earlier versions
the indicator will always be at the beginning of the last line of your PS1, hopefully they'll implement the \m escape in bash soon (so the position of the indicator in PS1 can be defined like so PS1='\u@\h \m $ ')
anyway, see the archwiki or something for more details on readline, inputrc and vi editing mode
use this PS1 string if you don't want to get into that
"┌─╼ \[\e[0;34m\]\u\[\e[1;35m\]::\[\e[0;34m\]\h \[\e[1;34m\]\w\[\e[0m\]\n└────╼ "

Loli is completely normal in anime culture but never forget that in the real world people go mental over anything concerning children and (a few) people have actually gone to jail for 2d drawings. So be safe and be careful who sees your wallpaper.

The obscenity laws here in Canada are so vague and broad that if they were enforced literally, a lot of classic literature found in every big library would be considered CP. So if they wanted to target hentai it'd be far easier but I don't how often they do.
Aristóteles Amadópulus · 2018-01-28 16:40
>>7731
You are absolutely right on note on that, wouldn't use it as a wallpaper or anything visible to normal people like that. Still, I don't think anyone's gone to jail just from reading some lolicon doujins on the internet or viewing pictures. It's always related to importing lolicon manga, onaholes, or being caught with actual CP and then lolicon added in. Hell, nhentai.net is 16th most popular porn website on the internet with tens of millions of visitors from all over the world, Canada, UK and Australia included, and does not censor any lolicon doujins (as far as I know).

Both cases linked by >>7731 only had 2d porn and the UK one was digital only, no physical books. Don't ignore the evidence and try to rationalize away your concerns. That is never a good plan.
>Still, I don't think anyone's gone to jail just from reading some lolicon doujins on the internet or viewing pictures
That's called discretion. Not everyone who commits a crime is arrested or charged. But the potential is still there. I agree it is not likely but I think it's important for people to be aware that loli is illegal and you *can* get in trouble for it.
>[I] wouldn't use it as a wallpaper or anything visible to normal people like that.
I mainly bring this up because I have had bad experiences when I was younger and naive. It's easy to get caught up in our own anime/online culture and forget that normal people do not consider adults watching weird asian cartoons acceptable on any level and in their mind there is no difference at all between watching Ilya being cute in fsn and ass raping a kindergardener.
Otto Normalverbraucher · 2018-01-28 18:00
>>7735
>loli is illegal and you *can* get in trouble for it.
Where I live, it's 100% legal, unless it's a recreation/trace of cp or visually inseparable from the real thing. I do get your point though. Even though it's not enforced, or enforced inconsistently in most countries, people need to be aware of it's legal status where they live before searching/viewing said content. The problem is that most countrie's law makes it not at all clear whether or not it actually is legal or you could get in trouble for it. There are some countries though, UK and Canada for example, where it's very clearly illegal and even sometimes enforced.

I heard an interview with an Aus pornstar a while ago, she moved to Holland because they basically can't operate in their own country anymore and it wasn't because of itty bitty titty in her case either.
The small breast thing is really oppressive though, like you are for life cursed to be seen as a juvenile no matter how old you are because you were born with an A cup. Enforced by law now.

Legal/moral arguments aside, I truely can't understand why anyone would decorate their virtual space with pictures of erotic pictures, let alone loli. I've been around long enough on desktop threads on various imageboards to see this specifically is a sort of cultural/traditional thing in chan/tech/anime adjacent culture but can someone explain what the appeal is? It seems to me to be as close as one can get to pedophilia without crossing that blurry line.
John Rain · 2018-01-29 01:45
>>7756
I don't know. It's definitely an indication that no one ever enters your bedroom or office to see it who isn't another otaku.
I witnessed a debate on a chan years ago where some shut-in was insisting that child models in provocative poses were SFW because there was no nudity. Imagine explaining that to your boss / gf / grandma / anyone not an autistic NEET with a permanently cheetos stained dick.
Cutter · 2018-01-29 02:08
>>7757
Although I don't specificallky use Loli art, especially explicit art (maybe suggestive but basically the appeal of all anime). And the thing that draws me is the art style. Although I'm in the minority. I actually ink my own art with nibbed pens and inkwells so thats the fascination it holds for me.
But specifically, even in anime, a 21 year old woman in an anime is likely to look like a loli unless they go for the over developed mammoth breast style. Mind you there are depictions of children as children, but on the whole, it's the cultural aesthetic of the japanese.
The archetypal categorization of 'moe' is pretty clear cut with anime, manga, or personality wise (dere-dere, tsundere, etc). And they simply reflect the ideals of that culture.
Other genres of manga do have their own archetype, such as the shounen genre, or seinen.
