Web Fiction, Forums and Data Preservation

Lately I've been thinking about censorship and loss of data a lot. Some of it is just forgotten or blocked once and no one remembers it existed for decades, it's troubling. I've found another such case where current solutions are lacking. Web literature too often sees itself censored, and it saddens me to see such rich information be lost due to nothing more than politicking and petty laws. I've been looking at possible alternatives, but some have rather strong downsides. cjdns/Tor -routed NNTP is not a viable alternative for long-term storage, though it would be fine for temporary discussions. Hosting your own nodes is feasible, if somewhat involved. In contrast syndie is a promising idea which mostly never materialized, unfortunately, as it addresses most of the needs I'm thinking of. In other words, stories via OP posts and commenting as one would on just any forum or newsgroup. Am I simply unaware of good existing alternatives?

IPFS?

>>6424 I was under the impression that IPFS was a decentralized datastore comparable to Freenet or (vaguely) Tahoe-LAFS, which means that it doesn't really cover any of the communication-centric features I'm looking for. I mentioned forums and NNTP (Usenet) specifically to indicate what kind of problem I have and what solutions I looked at which aren't working. Forums because centralized, Usenet because volatile storage. Unless I misunderstood something, a forum on IPFS would still enable censorship, same as any eepsite or freenet site version, because the owner of the "index" has a say in what updates are made to the index. Though if the versions and derivatives of a file are tracked... perhaps it could be possible to make something on top of IPFS, though that'd be a new project rather than one already available. Will keep an eye on this thread, gtg.
