Unblocking Websites
Agent Richard Gill · 2017-12-02 10:45
Hey Lain,
I am living in some soykafhole and my old DNS is not working anymore for some reason. I tried many other ones and none of them worked.
Is there a way to bypass this blocks without using VPN or proxy?
Also, unblocking thread I guess.

You could try DNSCrypt, but that requires additional software too unless your router already supports it (most dont without 3rd party firmware).
Of course this all depends on how your ISP is doing the blocking. If they are using DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) your options are a bit more limited, although if you use Windows (I am not aware of a Linux version) there is this which may or may not work: https://github.com/ValdikSS/GoodbyeDPI/
Otherwise I really don't know what to tell you, your only other options are a VPN or TOR.

Thank you! I will try those.

Simple DNSCrypt is not working, GoodbyeDPI is not working also. I don't know how they blocked DNS services but I heard something about tunneling, I don't understand tho. But thanks for the help anon.

Hmmm I am aslo wondering about this OP, Im not sure if its in fact my ISP blocking or throttling, or if they are just so frustratingly incompetent
anyway, isnt there a way to run your own DNS servero r use a community DNS instead of using your ISPs?
My internet crashes at least 4 times a day, and after countless hours of troubleshooting and investigating all of my network and hardware settings, I have narrowed it down to specifically my ISP having an either soykafty or broken DNS service
im not exactly blocked, but unable to connect to the DNS service

soykaf is like kicking dead whales down the beach anon.
I can reach certain websites by using VPN but it is troublesome and slow, DNS is easy to access. I still can't find the solution, don't know what to do.
Like what is the point of it, I am fuarrrking sick of politician parasites and their bullsoykaf.

Any way to, perhaps, only tunnel DNS through the tunnel? Perhapsssh -R 53:185.121.177.177:53 user@serverand then set your DNS server to 127.0.0.1
(The catch is acquiring server)

How does a simple dig +trace example.com @8.8.8.8 diagnose look like on your machine? Replace the domain name to a blocked one and see.

Why don't just run your own DNS server locally?

Doing so can solve my problem?

Why wouldn't it? Your isp can prevent you from using someone else's DNS but they can't prevent you from using your own.

I will do some research and try this anon, thank you. Because I feel like there is no other option left.

There's no research to be done. Just install unbound, edit your /etc/resolv.conf and see if it works.

>Why wouldn't it?
No, why would it? It's a good fuarrrking question.
>Your isp can prevent you from using someone else's DNS but they can't prevent you from using your own.
What? Your local DNS server still needs to forward queries to other DNS servers. That's how DNS works.
If your ISP is dropping DNS traffic it doesn't like then installing your own DNS server locally obviously won't change anything.

So you are telling me it's a waste of time.
Let's say my ISP or certain authorities are blocking some chan's or porn sites and they are no longer accessible by using DNS. What are my options to bypass this block without VPN or proxy? Because you can't post with public VPN's and also is effecting internet speed (same goes with proxies)

I don't know, I just want >>6494 to elaborate on "why wouldn't it" because it sure doesn't seem like it would work.
>What are my options to bypass this block without VPN or proxy?
You can try to resolve the IP address through a VPN or Proxy and then use the IP address instead of the domain name without the VPN. This bypasses DNS but your ISP will probably block direct access to the IP address too.

Get a paid for VPN?
>and also is effecting internet speed
You can't have everything. If all you want is porn then leave wget running overnight or something.

This.
Even though Tor is slow, there is nothing stopping you from spinning up 10 instances in parallel and running wget or youtube-dl or a custom crawler or something overnight.
