Now those are proper battlestation decorations. I wish there was some black with the red as well though.

I was (literally) rolling for classes in an MMO.

From previous battle station thread. Things have changed slightly, but not enough to warrant a new pic.

>Ubuntu on apple hardware
This seems unusual.
What are the tasks of these machines? I assume you are not using them all just as an expensive lightsource

Unfortunately, this particular computer doesn't have a whole lot of usage at the moment.
It was something I inherited from my late father, and at the time, ran very slowly on a very deprecated OS.
So, when I was learning Linux, I decided to wipe it and install the distro I was comfortable with at the time, as well as Ubuntu Studio, with the intention of eventually setting it up as a computer for music recording.
That may still be in its future, but isn't something I've set up at this time. So, its primary purpose at this point is acting as a fourth order backup. It's still very slow.
I tried installing OpenBSD on it for a while when I was nowhere near as knowledgeable in Linux as I am now, but gave up after a few attempts. I may use it as a playground for distrohopping or pen testing in the future, or as some sort of additional server. (Not pictured in this photo is an ancient Macbook that's slow as the dickens, which functions entirely as a media server.)
Also, though there are a lot of screens and computers in these shots, the actual gross cost of them all + additional hardware is very low, in terms of me paying for them. All the Apple products (including the AppleTV, which is used exclusively to stream content from the media server) were inherited. The laptop on my left is an old Satellite that was gifted to me about 5 years ago. Thinkpad is the most expensive item that I personally spent money on ($65 for T410 + docking station, $25 for replacement battery.) After that, the most expensive item pictured is the RaspPi, which was a gift from my partner. None of the screens cost over $10. TV was gifted to me by a client I used to work for. There's two very old Pentiums (see the Windows 95 desktop) which were $6 each, etc.
In other words, I rolled extremely high luck stats.
The Thinkpad is my daily driver. The Satellite to its left is used for more resource heavy programs, the primary storehouse for media + torrents, and as a seedbox. Primarily, these days, it's used for playing Steam on Windows via an EHD. (I also picked up 4x500gb harddrives for $20.)
The two Pentiums are fun soykafs & giggles machines. I have attempted to install many different low resource Linux distros on the one that does not have Win95, but it's got a slight hardware issue that I have not been able to workaround. It currently has FreeBSD on it, though there's not a whole lot of use for it.
RaspPi is used as secondary backup server (via connected EHD), PiHole, RetroPi machine, and Kali box, depending on SD card.

While my desktop is out of use u figured I'd hook my monitor up to my thinkpad. It's pretty nice.
Have recently come to own two other laptops second hand so maybe in the future there will be more
Also the mac is for music don't judge me

wow thats a nice setup, I know you end up using your primary machine most of the time, but its nice to tinker with all of that tech.

Want to share both wallpapers?
I have some trouble with my thinkpad and linux with two monitors, when I unplug the 2nd monitor all my panel config for the monitor goes to the main laptop screen and l have to config manually every time.
Or I can just plug and have no panel on 2nd monitor lol

This is fairly common with xrandr; I have my .Xdefaults to default to my main secondary monitor (rightmost) after my primary. If I plug in an additional monitor (ie the mounted one) it'll bypass my primary monitor entirely and load up some ill-configured dual screening. To make this easy for when I'm too lazy to manually unplug, I wrote a fish function for the appropriate xrandr code to toggle each monitor. Could easily be done in bash or whatever shell you use.
Anyway, commented on this to share the wallpapers. Thought I had both of this, but guess I haven't downloaded the second one. However, I've seen it on the site since the wipe, I'll pass it along if I find it.

Thanks! I adore this thing. I used to collect typewriters, and have found two models since moving out here (the thrifting is astounding here) that I couldn't pass up. That Olympia cost $15 and was well maintained (ie needed no replacement ribbons); probably fresh from an estate sale when I found it.
I have another Sears typewriter not pictured in any of the photos, plus a semi-decent electric Smith Corona I've had for like a decade.

It's definitely something that inspires me to gitgud; I'd love to do all the available hardware justice.

Sadly no, it's a T420, already Lenovo but in theory still with IBM specs
