Anime PC Case Builds

Has anyone tried doing a Lain themed custom PC case build yet? I'm pretty inspired by what this guy with Archer from UBW ((AKA Fate/Stay Night.) Buy a Lain figure and add lots of liquid coolers and it could look pretty neat like the inside of Lain's room. I've also been thinking of taking a PC case and spray-spraying it in pearlescent colors, though frankly, I don't think I'll do much DIY since my apartment doesn't have space and I have keep my PC under my desk. But I still get a lot of ideas from looking at anime PC case builds.

i wouldn't put extra stuff like that in the case because it reduces airflow

>>9198 I think it wouldn't be too bad if you planned it enough and had plenty of fans. I've also been thinking about eventually cutting my own PC case out of MDF wood too.

pc building will never be like hotrodding/ car tunning. stop trying to make this a thing

>>9203 To be fair, there is something to be said of cooling and power supply for overclocking. Still, I get where you are coming from. It seems a bit silly to try and turn a computer case into an art piece, the circuitry is where the beauty lies, even if it is mostly covered with plastic crap nowadays.

Personally I think a nice 90s sleeper gives of more Lain vibes than some painted rgb case with figurines inside.

Side windows, liquid cooling and LGBT lights are sooo 2014.

>>9206 True. You can probably find a decent Cooler Master case on the cheap side without a glass door you can spray with beige acrylic paint to get the desired aesthetics. Maybe add a fake CRT box to the back of your 4k monitor you can store random crap inside. Unless you want to sacrifice on cooling performance, layout for modern components and that sweet high res and install OpenBSD on a PC from the 90s you managed to scavenge while dumpster diving. Because from recent hardware shopping I can tell that even the stuff geared towards office use is unnecessarily tacky and it took me a while to find a model without everything RGB eyesore and screaming I'm a gaymer while still having proper vent ports for everything. But hey now I only need to shine in with a torch light to see my current level of dust accumulation so that's nice. Also don't put PVC figures right onto components that heat up. If it's not a fire hazard it's still going to ruin your funkos.

>>9204 Is there an alternative for plastic in computers?
Unnamed · 2024-04-17 10:05
>>11527 I once saw someone make a computer case out of wood and brass. Wood is a decent insulator, so you could probably replace most of the plastic in a computer with wood though it would be a lot bulkier and heavier. That said, I think >>9204 refers to things like a ram stick that's just a pcb with a few chips, versus a ram stick that's completely covered by a heat-sink.

>>11527 Most cases are metal or if they use plastic there is a metallic paint on the inside to reduce potential RF emissions or if metal case then grounding too. You actually dont even have to have it fully enclosed. A mesh wire case wont get as much dust inside as you think due to the heat from the operation pushing dust away from the components as it floats around if it is often left on and you can always blow it off frequently with compressed air. I dont build PCs though so dont just take my word for it. You also could straight up use glass but that is more modern looking.

>>9194 I like the idea but not the theme on this one I rate it 5/10

>>9194 I always wanted to recreate Lain-chan's room too... ...sadly, I ruined it with plugging a ps/2 in live computers, and not realizing ps/2 interface is such a killer...
