What difference would it really make if I move to a blue state or other US territory in the scenario fascism /insurgencies spread in the US? Could a state like Washington really become as authoritarian as Texas?
How likely is it fascism would extend to Hawaii or Puerto Rico? Discuss interstate geopolitics if you have any clue ... I want to leave Texas.
Ender · 2022-06-18 20:21
Democrats won't protect you from fascism. They would prefer fascism to socialism.
Hawaii might be OK just because its culturaly distinct from the rest of the US, but also, it will definitely be a spot of contention in any international wars. No bueno.
Places where there isn't any political instability are mostly that way because they isolate themselves. They won't take kindly to a random american moving in for no good reason.
Linda Lee · 2022-06-18 20:51
I disagree about the root of the issue that's causing the sprint towards fascism/authoritarianism so my advice is a little different. I see this as a class war that is happening globally. In fact I'm sure OP and myself would on some level feel like the other's thinking is a part of the problem... but I think that feeling is bullshit.
This is a global class war. A globalist coup. The ideological differences serve very little function but to divide us because ultimately the systems in place are not there primarily to serve us, neither are its mechanisms within our control nor influence. Everywhere in the world cost of living, political tension, and corruption is getting out of hand. Your best bet is to stay somewhere you feel you can be resilient -- yes somewhere geographically optimal with good natural resources and a hospitable natural environment will help a lot, but escaping to a more politically agreeable area is a poor motivation. More importantly, we need to build up our resilience to various disasters. Somewhere where we have good fallback of natural resources yes, but human resources as well -- primarily people you can trust. People that can support you if you're finding your shelter compromised, your food or water scarce, or your well being in danger. Do your best to learn and prepare to do likewise as well. Not only that, but a place in which you can participate in rebuilding and sustaining in the long run. Do not just be a participant in helping those you know, but everybody in your community, regardless of ideology. We should strive for peace, tolerance, and unity, regardless if it's with a MAGA sporting hick or blue haired Antifa activist. Our weapons in this war are truth and peace, and our base of operations is community. This war that is taking place there is no geographical location that will not be affected, so keep that in mind and act accordingly.

Why? Capitalism, climate change. How? The servants should spend less.
So naturally this implies increased cattle-like treatment.

Puerto Rico is pretty fuarrrked honestly, if you don't have any family ties there's no real reason to go. Just because it's US territory doesn't mean it's better than any other small island.

It's funny hearing about these obscure movements that are literally a dime a dozen and have zero affect on the country at large. I fail to see why they are worth mentioning unless I'm supposed to be scared of every spook I hear about. Considering they expect collapse, it seems they're merely forming community and helping each other out with survival skills, so if they manage to claim anything they probably intend to do so only post-collapse, barring some glowies compromising the movement and adding extremist elements. In all good for them. I hope collapse doesn't come as that won't do anybody any good, but if it does I hope they succeed and carve out their own thing, like some Amish community.

Democracy buckling under fear, of intimidation, violence, and violent people learning they can get away with anything. I think the democrats are too inept to stop anything. I don't care if it sounds extreme, I want a long term plan for my own peace of mind. Our rights getting incrementally stripped away. It is worth considering the resentment/sentiments of the local populace and finding the political temperature of the exact county/city/suburb/neighborhood/whatever you move to. The difference when it comes to going over to another color state may be useless given you may be moving to another area which has the same political persuasion you were attempting to avoid. Were I to guess anything is that any red state would be far more prone to having a fascist slant than their blue counterparts, though exceptions may be made for the minority-majority 1s(arizona/texas) atleast for a time until these minorities become a real inconvenience to management. Blue states or territories(yes this means Hawaii and puerta rico) would pretty much be beholden to whatever the Feds decide since the territories have come to rely on the federal governments for its food supplies and other necessities(CA and the Southwest leans on the power it gets from Hoover Dam). There are probably other Federal Installations which make it very unappealing not to listen to the Feds. Also here is something to help

Same as above, unless the natives decide they hate Americans(they do) to the point of enacting genocide(probably against snowies) should there be an absence of a federal government. And since they cannot sustain themselves, I think we all know who's going first. Also Hawaiians have their own notorious mafia known to make fair use of the lava flows

The person you were responding to was being sarcastic. The thread is not about abortion and I don't want to derail it so briefly: the prohibition of abortion is, of course, by itself not an absolute indicator of fascism. However the push in modern democracies to outlaw abortion, in addition to the relatively recent emergence of modern populist fascist-aligned movements (openly fascist or otherwise), is part of a broader trend of the stripping of rights. In case you don't know, please read about abortion, women's physiology, and contraceptives (how long can a woman go without knowing she is pregnant, what are the different methods for abortion, how effective are certain contraceptives). Abortion is not a hobby that promiscuous women engage in to indulge in degenerate western decadence. There are many situations in which a woman might be forced into a pregnancy or enter one without knowing. Even if it was solely a way for facilitating recreational sex (it absolutely is not), there is obviously a double standard in the way moral justifications for legislation like this seek to punish women for engaging in it as opposed to men when, in such a case, both are to blame. Endless ethical and philosophical discussions can be had about what constitutes a human life and whether or not it is ethical to end it at any given point, but abortion should be seen practically as a matter of public health. The reason conservatives and fascists oppose abortion (note that their objections are almost always moral and never practical) is that it serves to re-enforce the subservient role of women in society (or in many modern democracies the regression of women to subservience) and to prevent poor women from escaping poverty.

Benito Mussolini invented fascism. Hitler's version was actually substantially different, and more importantly I don't think he actually called it fascism.
Spain was also fascist in the 30's and 40's. They had help from Germany and Italy conquering the peninsula.
Several other countries have had very similar forms of governance without actually calling themselves fascist (e.g. Pinochet's Chile, Stalin's USSR) so it is reasonable to also call them fascism if we're okay with calling Hitler's Germany a fascist country.

That said, the right has most of the gun-weilding crazies because the far left is even less organized and more cannibalistic and liberals are terrified of guns. If the old saying "political power comes out of the barrel of a gun" is true, the right certainly has more power in reserve.
>including the military and police.
Military and police bureaucracy maybe. Actual police officers often have "unions" and sekrit clubs that hold most of the real power. And the sheriffs in many country counties are pretty far right even in "blue" states.
Military is more of a mixed bag I think, as long as their bills get paid they will probably remain neutral.

No i think Nazi Germany was more of an extreme example of fascism, more a product specific to germany's particular unhinged brand of antisemetism.
A more typical example of fascism would probably be franco's spain or Pinochet's Chile, where some dictator backed by the ruling elite seizes power and kills all the communist. ( tho it doesn't have to be a general, can be a conman reality star )
Fascism is just ultra authoritarian right wingism, dictatorship as a counter revolutionary measure, the exact tenants of fascism are specific to specific national culture and history, frecnh, german and italian fascism all have differences.
American fascism is a mixture of white supremacy and christian fundamentalism, only a fringe element of the far right draw from european traditions. In fact the other way around -- Europeans imitating Americans is just as common. Hell, it could be said Hitler god his fascism from america.

This is incorrect. Fascism is more about the people than it is about the leader. If you took the time, you'd acknowledge that a cult of personality has the opportunity to develop in all things.

Why would they need "extra-judicial" anything if they are the law? I think you're confusing the violent arm of political revolutionaries to those groups being in power.

That only gets you stuck in a mire of meaningless definitions. Just look at this thread: do you think anyone would have agreed on what fascism means if they had talked it out beforehand?
In any kind of discussion of politics its not just the immediate meaning of the words that matter. Words have weight and historical baggage associated to them. If you're not interested in that, don't go into politics.

Dear God.
No, Trump isn't a fascist.
No, the the proudboys aren't fascist.
No, having a police force isn't fascism.
There is maybe 1000 fascists in the US and the militias will turn against them faster than against BLM.
Ho, yes, the freedom loving, small government type militias aren't fascist either.
>Insurgencies
Recent US history show how easily this spread in the US. One hurricane in New Orleans and for half a year it's the anarchy with even cops looting what is left in the shops. One brutal police arrest and for half a year the country is on fire.
There is one and only one thing that can protect you from it: people you can trust with guns.
You won't do it alone, you won't do it with people who will flee at your moment of need. You need people you can trust. Family is the best choice. Friends are temporary, family is forever.
Your best chance is to be in a high social trust town, meaning a small one. In this sort of towns, people spontaneously get in the way of raider gangs and the one local cop can deputize them all as fast as he want.
And you also need the capacity to be violent. No, swords won't do in a gunfight.
Yes, you got this. A rural town full of rednecks and hillbillies would be perfect.

Hence why I suggest the definitions. The people who are actual fascists, natsoc, 3p, etc. VS people who larp as one of those VS people who only think "nazi" (when they mean national socialist) and "fascist" are the same thing. This creates an impossible task of discussion. You can see it in this very thread.
>If you're not interested in that, don't go into politics
That is not how it works... and for what it is worth, I actually do know the history, the context, etc. In fact, there is a very high possibility that I know more than anyone in this thread of the Irish fascists and their activities and strategies, the Spanish fascists (ok, they were Falangists, but this was a subset of fascism), the Italian fascists, Greek national socialists, and the German national socialists. As well as the economics, social, and intellectual reasons for why they happened... because I love the late-1700's to mid-1900's and it is all I read about, I even read obscure journals that I can find on it, written in between this time period.
Unfortunately, the mass majority of people here only think "fascist = nazi = genocide" when the concept of genocide is hardly part of the equation. There is no need to genocide when you can simply expell people from your nation. Frankly, the only reason why people hated fascist italy was because they picked "the wrong side". If it wasn't for that, fascists wouldn't have the bad name, except to marxists.
That being said, I'm just here for a genuine discussion with people on the matter and, for some reason, there is a strange fear of defining it and reaching an understanding of what things mean.

Incarceration rates often have to do with people committing violent crimes or committing reckless endangerment such as DUI. I do believe there are issues of false imprisonment and excessive laws and "regulations" (classical definition means normalization) such as possession crimes of any sort but let's not fool ourselves into thinking the majority of prisoners are the victims.
As for income inequality, so fuarrrking what? Why does it matter to you that someone made more money than you? People are suppose to make more money if their jobs are in short supply yet demand is high. We can make arguments about scumbags like big pharmaceutical executives getting wealthy using dirty deals with government officials such as the scum at Pfizer but at the end of the day, jealousy is not a desirable trait.
The police state comment is true about the USA and other nations like Australia, New Zealand, UK, France, and Zog-run Germany. I think it would be somewhat upsetting for some if it was known how many people not only feel this way, but are prepared in such a way. The MAGA situation was extremely helpful in what some people are calling "The Great Awakening", the phrase is borrowed from Dr. William Luther Pierce and Harold of NWF.
It goes well past "meme bookshelves", there is real praxis. I fit into a really obnoxious camp for many left-leaning individuals because other than my racialism and interest in both capital-T Traditionalism and an ethnostate, I'm generally non-offensive to leftist sensibilities, especially in my deep ecology (and inherently anti-capitalist) mindset. Consider that my (offline) praxis is basically planting illegal trees (native, of course) and helping people get their butterfly bushes setup to help monarch butterflies -- It ends up alienating non-hardliners when they see leftists screaming "nazi" and such at a guy actively cares about the environment and rarely mentions his "divergent" worldview.
Just do yourself a favor and deal a little less in polemics and be sure to work out, be well read, and get involved in some DIY. You can't really do long-term white power without a little green mixed in, even Adolf Hitler knew that. Reach out to people who mean well but are struggling. Who brags about friends? Weapons, such manuals and books are less common. (Although, I guess in modernity, there isn't much in the way of friends, is there?) Anyways, you're suddenly concerned with how he decided to express himself and nitpicking? I'm not sure where you're headed with this. Could you elaborate further? Because your implication that he doesn't have friends is because he didn't mention it... With that logic, I can discern that you lack more or less everything because you failed to mention it. I disagree with how you have decided to view this, if that is the case.
>towards degeneration
The entire basis of the "far-right" is about rebuilding. "Fascism" is scaffolding towards a better future and with the plans behind it. If you mean to say degeneration from the liberal worldview, I would not word it this way, but why sure. Either way, I wouldn't conflate the two. Every circumstance of the "far-right" has brought in rebuilding, whereas every circumstance of the "far-left" has brought degeneration.
You could even point at it as a sort of ebb-and-flow. Modern "leftists" even revel in the degeneracy. They only disagree with calling it "degeneracy" when it's used to a negative way, or as a sort of light to point out the problems that their ideas have caused.

revolutions which succeed get the popular support and thrust of inevitability retconned in by the winners. revolutions which fail get the popular dislike and aire of doom retconned in by the winners. Who comes out on top can just be a function of placement and preparation, good fortune and greasing the right hands. Often the winners are just the weaker party from the last government, with the same gov. and bureaucracy.
Look at the E. Euro revolutions of the 90s. Big disaffected population, popular support for overthrow or it seems like it. Romania litterally shot the President and his wife. Who becomes next head of state ? Guy who'd been in the communist party for decade and had been described as the last guy's heir apparent before a sort of falling out.
Who became the rulers of the USA after the revolution ? same class of guys who'd been in charge before. Washington's military leadership experience had been fighting for the British government.
Revolutions are frequently just spats between existing members of the ruling class.
