non-dairy-non-fed-milk

I am looking for a non-dairy milk alternative.
I have come to believe that a lot of modern food is poisoned and I am especially untrusting of "fake" foods like impossible meat for example.
I've heard some people say to avoid meat and go vegan, others say keto, others say eat local beef.
Has anyone done research into some better alternatives or what is good to avoid? What about the staples? What should someone not go without?
The Phantom Phreak · 2022-04-21 19:33
>Non dairy milk alternative
If it has "alternative" in it you're being poisoned. Buy the expensive, grass fed, pasture raised soykaf and rub it all over you're body, it's delicious. It also comes packed with nitrosile, because grass, which is a natural anticancer compound and labeled Vitamin B-16 or some soykaf I don't care I already drink it.
If you're lactose intolerant then you don't like milk. Start studying in line genetic editing CRISPR to alter your liver to produce lactase or get over it.
But the occasional nutmilk as a desert won't hurt you if you seek the cream, just ensure it's from quality nuts such as Deez.
Masami Eiri · 2022-04-21 19:38
I always typically have unsweetened almond milk in my fridge. I can't say for certain whether or not it's poisoned, but it's probably better for you than that meme soy-milk stuff. It goes well with some kind of fiber/old-person cereal, or on it's own to drink with a meal.
>What should someone not go without?
I would say rice, eggs, and bags of frozen vegetables, at least for me, a poor person. You can easily mix them all together into a delicious, healthy meal. They are all very easy to make and digest for me, and I feel nice after I eat a meal which has them.
(I don't know too much about food, I just use my intuition, and eat when I'm feeling weak or at set times, but obviously stay away from bugs, "Oatly," and seed oils.)

>I've heard some people say to avoid meat and go vegan, others say keto, others say eat local beef.
Has anyone done research into some better alternatives or what is good to avoid? What about the staples?
The only thing the research is actually in on is that there is no one-size-fits-all diet advice, especially after factoring in chronic syndromes and mental health. Differences in nutrient metabolism and sensitivity between people resulting from factors we barely understand like age, genetics, medical history, fitness, etc. turns diet advice into a complex problem where the details overwhelm the generalities. Considering the scale of the problem in proportion to hard science funding, it will probably be a long time before we can say anything more specific than that.
The only sensible diet advice is ti try something for an extended period of time, I'd spitball two months minimum, and see if you like how you feel afterwards. If you want to be thorough you can get blood work done as well. Other than that, ignore pretty much everything, as you have no way of knowing if it applies to you like it does to whoever's saying it.
Spike Spiegel · 2022-04-22 10:32
Bioengineered dairy is a thing now. I don't know the full details but it probably has potential to be the most environmentally friendly source of milk and it's actually real milk just from genetically modified yeast instead of animals. It wont need pesticides so it wont be poisoned and it wont have bovine growth hornone some cow milk has. I mean it sounds prefect except to people lactose intolerant but it probably is possible to make it not have lactose when produced too. It will be hard to find but I know it's available in some markets. I havent been able to try it yet.
Tank · 2022-04-26 20:15
Damn, Angloes are such barbarians. If only you dimwits have noticed that all cultures with extensive dairy consumption do not drink "just milk", their diet mostly consists of various bacterial fermentation stages ("processed" in anglo speak) of it, and often times it's not even cow milk because historically other domesticated species were more economical to raise in steppe and mountains. Most of these populations are also what you anglos call "asians" aka mongoloids, who often time have lactose intolerance. Wow, how do they even? Here's how: eat quarg, cottage cheese, soft cheese, smetana, kefir, yogurt. I bet these products can only be found in premium section of whatever hipster supermarkets you have out there, "Hole Foodz" or something like that. But, do not despair. With a little heat most of real milk can be turned into yogurt or quarg, a pinch of chymosin produces very soft cheese.
Stop pouring gallon jugs of bleached corn syrup into your "cereals" and whining about how milk hurts your tummy and is bad. It's not, you're not eating it right.
>I am looking for a non-dairy milk alternative.
Are you looking for alternative to non-dairy milk, e.g. you are looking for regular milk?
Terzibashjian · 2022-04-26 22:18
It's super easy to make DIY oatmilk. I don't know why they're trying to meme it like the new soy when its literally just oats soaked and blended, then put through a cheese cloth. Add some vanilla, honey/maple syrup etc and that's it. Maybe the brand names have artificial poisons in them but it tastes basically the same. Although they do have a strong oily residue I've noticed.
Unnamed · 2022-04-26 23:00
Oatly is god tier if you intend to use it to make coffee based drinks or sweet desserts with it. The texture is also very good.
I wouldn't drink it without mixing it with something else, there is nothing compared to fresh cow milk.

I watched a Ted-Ed video on milk alternatives once. The conclusion was that Oat Milk was best for the planet. This is convenient to me because Oat Milk has the best taste of all of the alternative milks I've tried so I'd recommend it anyway.
Almond milk takes a lot of water to grow and it seems to support some kind of almond mafia in South America or something.
Soy Milk is a pretty good alternative, planet-wise (not commenting on taste, never tried it), but it's not as good as Oat Milk.

Go to a local farmers market, buy organic milk from free range properly looked after cows, drink the bloody milk and shut up
You aren't basing your fear of milk off of anything rational, you have a generally paranoid mental state probably caused by spending too much time on the internet looking at politics and conspiracy theories and an inability to read food labels.

the term organic is (in usa) controlled by fda and doesn't mean what you think it means. Difficult often for little farmers to be classed as organic, but they're often as good as or better. Just red tape.

The fact that this doesn't strike me as completely batshit insane is saddening. As for alternatives for poisoned food, I realized that just eating less poison already gives you a great advantage. Yes, just eat less. We were not adapted to this abundance of food, much less of an abundant diet of poison. My health improved a lot since I started fasting.
Incognito · 2022-06-15 02:27

>just eat less
Everything in moderation, and fasting as well. Lots of people eating too much but frankly on this board it might be a pretty wide mix, between litteral annorexics and people who just forget to eat for days, hideous fatties, and those of more healthy dispositions. Just eating less is sometimes good, but sometimes a road to the grave, or at any rate unhealth.
Much better to find a good source of food _and_ manage it healthily.
Sabo Engle · 2022-06-15 02:41

True. I was mostly relaying my personal experience as a former fatty. It didn't occur to me that annorexics and underfed people would be looking for dietary advice. It seems to me they have good control over what they eat (or don't eat). If the direction their diet takes them is the grave, it was the direction they were consciously following, I believed. I was wrong.

why? questionable assumption.
seems incredibly unnatural to me to drink cow milk, and many people get actively sick from lactose like that. factory farms also do processing to the milk and perhaps engineer the cows and feed them questionable things, even antibiotics etc

Don't really understand the point of your question. If you don't like milk then don't drink it and eat other stuff.
If you are lactose intolerant but still want dairy then you can get lactose-free versions (they just add an enzyme to degrade the lactose).
If you want something that has a similar role in desserts then use coconut milk.
Pulse · 2022-06-17 02:41
Out of all the plant milks I've tried, only oat milk was good. Even then, sometimes it was soykaf depending on the brand. The best kind is very slightly more viscous than water (around how viscous milk is) and tastes faintly of plain oatmeal. Bad oat milk tastes like water used to rinse oats.

I suggest buying local meat, but that's a rural town privilege. Tofu is great protien if that's what you're looking for. Don't go keto or any other fad diet, it's a oneway ticket to disordered eating lane.

I know, right
> As for alternatives for poisoned food, I realized that just eating less poison already gives you a great advantage.
> My health improved a lot since I started fasting.
Beware though, fasting improve health not because you ingest less poison but because the poison you ingest is somewhat counteracted by the fasting effects (for weight I mean).
What I have found so far is that its sugar (and fat?) that makes one fat, not because its highly caloric but because its poisonous: It slowly destroy weight regulation center (cf. leptin resistance). Fasting restablish leptin sensitivity to a certain degree, unexpectingly, by temporary reducing levels by 50-70%.
But if you fast only, the poison is still there in the background.

>I am looking for a non-dairy milk alternative.
I recommend oat milk or almond milk. They are more ecologically sustainable than soy milk and contain less plant estrogens. One of less known (or repressed) problems with soy is that more than 50% of the soy produced in the world comes from South America and growing more soy is one of causes of deforestation there.

Yep. Oat milk is better than real milk than lattes, too.
Unironically go vegan OP. Meat is the worst soykaf you can put in your body. Nothing more pure than just eating vegetables, rice, beans, legumes, fruit, etc. all day err day. Just buy B12 supplements and you're good to go. Also, the ethics of not eating sentient beings and supporting the genocidial industrial meat industry are clearly superior to carnism.

Cheese. Or stuff like Yoghurt and Kefir. It's actually a better way of getting the vitamins and nutrients in milk than actual milk is.

Real milk causes cancer and is most often unethically produced. Nut milk tastes the best to me (I especially recommend macadamia) but oat milk is allegedly much more sustainable and traditionally creamy. Don't listen to just anything people say about cutting out stuff like animal products, modern science most strongly defends a vegan diet if you research thoroughly.

In certain circles this used to mean something else but let's not go there.
I finally took the very common advice out there and tried to mostly cut out dairy to reduce the eczema I get in wintertime. Lo and behold, it was about ⅓ as bad this previous year as the several years before that. I was pretty reluctant but all it took was not buying it one week. I still use a bit in cooking but it's minimal.

If you are lactose intolerence, then try lactose-free dairy.

dont worry anon im already sucking your moms titties
flavoured milks (i.e. chocolate) are really easy to do right i think because its not competeing with the unique taste of milk but rather a more widespread taste so things like chocolate hazelnut, coconut and oat milk are able to taste good without tasting like milk at all because its already a flavour combo that we like
my wife drinks lactose free milk cos shes as*an and it tastes almost unpalatably sweeter than normal milk, though ive heard ultra filtrated lactose free milk gets rid of that and its not really noticable in cereal, just on its own and in savoury recipes. when im making something like kraft mac and dont have milk i actually just use flour+water+butter instead and it works well because its a neutral taste and serves more to thicken it than an actual milk flavour

Almond milk is a typical medieval food. Medieval people didn't drink milk, because it easily spoils. They drank almond milk instead.
So there are tons of medieval recipes which use almond milk. Try them. Embrace tradition.

while this is true that almond milk was a historic thing (I cant imagine all of europe at least among lower classes had it regularly but whatever), there's some indications that lactose intolerance wasn't particularly high in europe for at least the last several thousand years, there probably was some direct milk consumption.
If you're a peasant or close to peasants who have sheep goats or cows, as much of mideval europe has been, you can pretty easily get fresh raw milk which is fine if the beast is healthy. Freshness isn't the greatest concern when you live with your cow and can get fresh milk every day.
At least in more recent semiindustrial times it also seems to have been a greater trend to scald milk and drink it hot, another trick which can combat possible contamination. Havent seen much about this in i.e. mideavalsoykef tho.
And at any rate dairy was pretty common. Cheese, cream, butter. Buttermilk and whey have also clearly been drunk directly quite often throughout history.
Also are you sure how much almond milk was drunk direct and not rather used in other recipies ?
Naomi Nascimento · 2022-11-17 04:26

>Lactose intolerance
They ate a lot of cheese. They just didn't drink milk much. (Yes, some people drank milk. But It was quite uncommon.)
>Peasants could get fresh milk
This seems to be true. But somehow milk consumption was not that prevalent as cheese. Medieval aside, even ancient Greeks rarely drank milk, while eating cheese almost everyday. Honestly speaking, I don't know why. But it was.
>Contamination
How to make almond milk:
1. Crush almonds.
2. Boil them.
3. Filter them. (You can use this as a butter alternative too)
4. Done.
So you only need to store almonds. Medieval people made almond milk just in time (JIT). Not ahead of time (AOT). This also shows that you should make your own almond milk. Do not consoom.
>Drink vs Eating
Yes, people sometimes drunk almond milk directly. But they didn't drink much of anything other than water & wine (or beer) though.
fsociety · 2022-11-17 08:20

>They ate a lot of cheese.
Cheese has a lot less lactose than milk. Its also possible that people drank more whey and that this affected lactose tolerance, for it generally has a fair amount.
>I dont know why but it was
where do you get this notion ? Caesar describes several gaulish nations whos diet consists of i.e. milk and meat. Herodotus likewise describes such people in quite different regions. Its possible they see it as uncivilized, but it clearly happens a lot among various peoples. Perhaps its just that the urban society has less trivial access to their animals, and so should treat milk as suspect, whereas certain other peoples don't have this problem.
>Contamination
my point on this was that scalding is a method to mitigate risks associated with drinking milk, if you live with your cow you get it jit and perhaps even direct from tit.

none of the alternative milks are better for the planet. at least 90% of a pasture raised cows water intake comes from grass/rain water. you just cant do the same for monocrops which are a complete drain on soil fertility and water

people have drunk milk and milk products for thousands of years. everyone can digest milk, however most people have depleted enzymes because of a soykafty diet and pasteurized milk which is difficult to digest. real dairy straight from a cow is best because it has the necessary enzymes and bacteria to digest. obviously no one is talking about that factory farm soykaf and you should never drink it since it genuinely is poisoned. btw nuts and seeds are all poisonous. plants dont want you to eat them and we havent evolved to consume them either. Also eggs are the most nutritious thing you can consume. Though i would only trust eggs from a small farm or if i had my own chickens since almost every egg brand is fed trash or given drugs

IDK about where you are but in for example the usa cows are not often factory farmed. Do a little checking on where you get your milk and maybe pay a dollar or two extra a gallon/try a few different brands. Some taste a lot better, too, but this all depends on region so check for yourself.
Milk is good, but like with all things its possible to spoil it. Same problems that effect milk you list effect great quantities of foods...vegetables and fruits...meats and eggs...dairy and grains, but it is possible to avoid in all cases if care is taken....
