DIY Thievery

Hello Lainons
I have been shoplifting around 4 or 5 times over the course of a year and had gotten caught once(I just dropped the soykaf and walked away). all have been walkouts and all except the one where i got caught were planned in accordance with times with the employees were being drowned by the ever adoring public. Felt like making a thread here for anyone to post advice and other approaches to shoplifting since i checked and did not find any lively forums or discussion boards.
With my very minor experience with modest theft and stealing being a very popular crime, I figured I could create a thread, post some obvious and/or obscure resourceses to help, will probably post more later
here are some guides

Some advice
-have a trip to the store simply to scout and know what you want beforehand
-Keep store visits under 15 min
-Have your routes planned
-research police response times for your area
-look into company's turnover rates
-check the frequency of crimes in your selected area(more crime less time)
-watch videos on the stores and their response towards theft
-dress well
-have your ride in a differenet parking lot
-Have a change of outfits in a hiding location( atleast in another parking lot )
-Some hiding spots would be garbage areas which block the view of nearby traffic, large bushes, and public restrooms
-Look into store policies regarding theft some are hands ons
-Do not trust the public
-be somewhat fit
-Dont linger
-look for the path of least resistance
-Disregard any "masterlists"
On a sidenote, would recommend not targeting smaller/family bussineses. I say this for practical reasons not for the "ethics" of it because while some would feel bad for the hurting the more "personable" business in the end they are just another business that would be willing to be fuq anyone over and be the next Amazon or whatever other major conglomerate.

now this is a quality ass thread, thanks OP. I've done some lifting but not for a few years after a few close calls that made me feel like it probably wasn't worth the risk for the stuff I was lifting. have you had any success with lifting anything valuable (don't need to go into specifics) that made it feel more like you were taking on an acceptable risk?
since one of the resources mentions it I'll add here that learning sleight of hand can be a very valuable skill for stuff like this since you can use it to make yourself look completely innocuous in full view of security personnel or cameras if you're good.
Jackie Mars · 2022-03-04 07:56
The only lift I can confidently say it was well worth it was lifting from one of the nearby hardware stores, which was more than a 150ish dollars and I happen to use to this day. The one thing notable I took from that store was how the company was very strict with its no chase/pursue policy, where the typical employee that even followed anyone would be terminated immediately. There a fair amount of videos of employees that were on the news that whined for their jobs back.
On a lesser note, it was stupid lift but unexpectedly very useful, the next place i hit up was a 1$ store, which happened after halloween, I ended up with a bunch of masks, cheap duct tape/electrical tape, more tools(honestly would not trust) and fine sample selection of their latest sweatshop clothing brands. Now with that one I carried a receipt and acted like I was checking it and I only earned 1 curious glance from the store greeter. Months later came the extra stupid part of this story, I ended up applying for job at the same place and spoke to manager and the way she looked at me was very much like she was studying my face and at the time I was sporting a cut across it so it may been that or she may be really checking if I was the one who made off with her goodies(a weird delusion employees thinking people like us steal from them personally)
will probably post about my grocery store lift later that one was tense as hell, ironic since i heard grocery stores are ridiculously easy

man I used to lift from grocery stores because at the time I was poor as fuarrrk and trying to save some money here and there lifting stuff I needed, but those were the closest calls I had where I decided to stop doing it. in fact the last time I did it I actually got caught, but I went about the whole thing so incredibly stupidly and was lucky that the person working at the store let me go. he acted exactly how you're describing too, this was just someone stocking the shelves but he got on some power trip and actually seemed to give a fuarrrk about someone lifting from a store he worked at. it's still incredibly strange to me that anyone could ever give the slightest fuarrrk about someone lifting from their soykafty minimum wage job.
something I've thought a lot about doing that isn't lifting but is in the same general topic is pickpocketing. I don't know if it's a thing that's still commonly done given that most people probably don't carry cash (though you could also take a smartphone), but if you're good at sleight of hand and do it in a crowded place (ideally somewhere where people will be intoxicated), it seems like it'd be easy money with a low risk of being caught.
Apoc · 2022-03-04 10:25

Pickpocketing drunks is asking for very high probability of wpierdol as they say in Easter Europe. It's a very fine art that used to be practiced since childhood, and modern people are too neurotic to let anyone too close, I for example can sense anyone standing near, always have one side of body near wall, and all pockets I've ever put money or valuables in I also keep one hand or they are locked with button/zipper and on inside of the jacket.
Your bet is airheaded rich first world grandmas on tour trips in Italy or something similar, this is the only kind of pickpocketing victim I have concluded after watching numerous documentaries about scammers and pickpockets and "thief's memoirs" type of literature.

>lift from grocery stores because at the time I was poor as fuarrrk
That is pretty much where I am at right now, the unemployment rate where I live is nearing 10%...
>but I went about the whole thing so incredibly stupidly
What went wrong exactly?
>this was just someone stocking the shelves but he got on some power trip
crabs in a bucket mentality pretty much
Now when I hit one of the local grocery stores, I had planned with the store being busy, store's policy in mind (which was hands on), and what routes I would take. This again was a walkout but I had been feeling somewhat confident since this had been working so far but felt like it was I was getting predictable. So I go in and try to act like the usual customer, feel up the produce, grab some, act like I am considering the prices and keeping my head down pretending to look at my phone. My real target was the liquor aisle which I ended up putting a couple large bottles in one of the reusable bags I brought with me. Now the first real problem was the fact by the time I had gotten to the cash register area, the store had calmed and I started feeling like security was already picking up on me. I really thought I should abort but went through with the walkout anyway since you gotta risk it for the biscuit. As I am going through the exit area there are two employees coming inside as I am going out and they are on both sides of me, one was a young black guy with a bit of a fro and the other tall old bald white dude with glasses. They both also seemed to be slowly extra walking and seemed to be giving me an odd extra looking(they may have been in coversation idk). Now I really probably should have booked it at that point but instinctively felt I should act just casual, so I only really just increased my walking speed(I walk really fast normally). And they did nothing. Again as part of the repetition of my overconfidence, I ended up actually getting a job there and noone the wiser. I ended up fuqing around for a good part of that job and didnt show up when holidays came around.
Some self-criticism(would be interested anyone else's take on this one)
-run like motherfukker next time
-probably should aborted and waited for a busier time
-avoid places with hands on security(even though nothing happened there was needless risk involved)
Might post the lift where I got caught a bit later since it was recent....
also posting relevant book(56 pages, an easy read) I am 90% sure was posted in another thread here

yeah, I always hear pickpocketing is mainly only a thing that survives in places with a lot of tourists. I want to believe that it would be a viable hustle but you're probably right.
>>8279
>what went wrong exactly
I was just being really fuarrrking stupid. I don't know what I was thinking at the time but I went to a store at like 3am, thinking that since there would be almost no one there, it'd be unlikely that anyone would notice if I took something small enough to fit in my pocket. it might have worked but I would have had to have been really careful to avoid being seen by the few people who were working there. going when stores are busy is definitely a better bet, though I'm really surprised you managed to get away with liquor because where I live they typically have locks on those that would set off the alarm.
like I said above I haven't lifted anything in awhile after the time I got caught. soykaf made me a lot less confident and a lot more paranoid about the possibility of getting caught. but times are also tough and it's starting to feel more like it might become necessary soon. fortunately the city I live in (and a lot of other cities for that matter) is also experiencing a huge spike in violent crime and has lost a lot of cops from people resigning due to vaccine mandates, and then thanks to the riots in 2020 there was also some defunding, so the cops have got better soykaf to deal with than this. might be the ideal time to try.
this looks like a really useful book. I was actually thinking yesterday after this thread got posted that it probably could be a good idea to invest in some disguises since as it stands I have kind of a memorable appearance.

The impression I get from the average store is they can have as many eyes as they want but they simply never be able to pursue every curiosity there is(my reasoning for walkouts). The monitors frequently found in the fronts are mainly there to inspire paranoia.
>though I'm really surprised you managed to get away with liquor
On that, I went to an affluent area(funny since a little more than a few miles there are some real ghetto areas), I however am personally poor as hell. Go figure
On the topic of pickpocketing, cant really comment since I have no experience in that art

I hope you're only doing it in big corporate stores. Small stores the owners sometimes cut the losses out of employee paychecks or fire employees either blaming them for it or accusing them of the stealing.
I havent stolen anything but I can ad some interesting info
I heard from a Wal Mart security gaurd they don't do anything about shop lifters but take down their plates. So if someone wanted to steal something using a car is a bad getaway better off on a bike which arent required to use plates and dont have to follow roads assuming suspension is decent. He also said they expect people to shoplift so they don't even do any financial reaction to it as in no employee paycuts the store basically has their budget expect people stealing. Though do keep in mind I've heard online of people being caught as they walked toward the door and were detained in store.
I actually once going through checkout accidentally got a discount by having some build your own beer six pack in the wrong case because someone stuck something else where the cases usually are you grab without me noticing what happened till I left the store and looked at the receipt. No one noticed but I was concerned for the cashier they may get blamed for it if anyone found out and I went back in and she basically made me regret being honest because they didnt really care and I had to go through a hassle to take care of it at the service desk and they didn't even want the money in the end. This probably is higher occurence in self checkout so long as items weigh the same since the machine wont notice a swap of the barcode for similar items and if you bag quick enough before they come to ID you if it's something that needs an ID they wont even notice though some do check what you have on occasion but otherwise they dont even check at all. I bet some minors buy beer this way like they just get something like Not Your Fathers and put it in a soda case. Some places only expect you to show the receipt to someone as you walk out. Self checkouts also have an option to skip bagging which means it wont ask you to weigh the object however there is a limit to number of times you can do this or at least in a row before it flags someone to come over there and look at what youre doing and the machine halts you going further till they approve it again. This probably varies by store and machine manufacturer what it's set to. You need to keep in mind multiple cameras are trained on you during self checkout you are visible at the machine you use but likely also partially from near by machines especially behind you.
Also Ive found bags and receipts get checked more often during night hours. During the day there is less likely someone checking your bags and receipt. This is because people shoplift more during the night so that's when they are on lookout.

That's all that's left
>I heard from a Wal Mart security gaurd they don't do anything about shop lifters but take down their plates.
I heard about the plates too, however in the poorer areas of the city where one these stores is, i have seen people get taken down(this was in 2014 and havent visited since but they were aggressive) with police and ambulance nearby for some reason. Now about this location, it was in particularly located near a police station less than few miles down the road(also it was pretty much just between the poorer areas and somewhat well off areas). What I noticed then was that these few people that got were getting caught were doing pushouts with carts loaded with electronics and were full to the brim.It also didnt help that they were black, having darker skin is a handicap :/
>Also Ive found bags and receipts get checked more often during night hours. During the day there is less likely someone checking your bags and receipt. This is because people shoplift more during the night so that's when they are on lookout.
Depends on area really

about that i do have some related experience with a certain office supply store but will post it in a few days since it was recent and a funny fluke.
To go slightly off tangent, i remember workers in Mal Wart saying to cut off their hands like in the old days... you really need to keep any employees you see at a good distance in general

In the US owning a car is as necessary as anything else. There is hardly any places where you can walk to them and there isnt good public transport many places and anywhere to even just get food is at least half an hour to two hours away by driving often. Imagine how long it would take someone to walk or take a bike. It also is expensive owning a car so a lot of the money needed for food goes to the car for legally required insurance and gas. Where I live we dont even have sidewalks and there is just a ditch by the side of the road you cant really walk on. It took me two hours just walking one way for something that would take five minutes to drive and I repeatedly almost got hit by cars.
Meddler · 2022-03-07 15:31
Be aware that a common strategy for big chains is to let you steal a few times, monitor you for your next lift, and stop you after they've gotten footage of you stealing valuables worth more than $500 or $1000 total, or whatever the limit is in your jurisdiction on felony vs misdemeanor theft.

>anywhere to even just get food is at least half an hour to two hours away by driving often
man I don't know where in rural alaska you live but two hours to the nearest foodstore is extremely rare. 30 minutes - 1 hour to the nearest good grocer, OK. If you're picky maybe more but thats on you not on the country. Two hours drive is usually well enough to get you to the nearest big city. At highway speeds thats easily over 150 miles.
also walking on the side of a highway like a fvggot who the hell are you.

the one nice thing about modern facemask culture is that hiding identity is more socially acceptable and doesn't throw out redflags. Imagine walking into a walmart with a bandanna over your face in 2018 like youre larping as some bandit bankrobber. Now no one raises an eyebrow.

To me, being poor means you can't break out past the necessities. To some people they may need a car. I'm lucky enough to be able to access everything and work with just a 20~ min bike ride... excluding winter and spring times. No way I can bike in harsh winter conditions. Takes easily an hour+ or so to reach stuff by foot.
>>8309
Huh. Well I guess you can act a bit. put everything you want to buy and steal in a cart, wait and walk around, take something in your pocket and go checkout and buy stuff. Just crafting a scenario on the spot. May not work.

I use to lift items to be able to pay for my pill addiction back when I was a student. It was pretty aesthetic, sad to say.
Id lift pop-cult items a to resell to a small independent store who knew what I was doing (in-fact, he'd encourage it, HA). I'd basically do almost everything OP mentioned in his tips and like to think I was successful. I took a while to grow the balls and gain the motivation as well as figure out what I had to do efficiently.
My last attempt was a bit different as I wasn't sober and thinking straight. As I left the store, I was followed by a staff member. I attempted to leg it but tripped and fell over. I picked myself up and still managed to get away but, that was the one which made stop before it got worse.
My favourite memory of it has to be when I made my heftiest haul and got it back to a safe spot out of the view of the public near some garbage cans. I changed my outfit and repackaged the goods. Collected my self from the adrenalin and continued on my mission to sell.
I don't miss that life but it did its job. Remember, always target the large corporations when doing this soykaf. Always avoid harm to local and more personal businesses.

My experience with shoplifting comes from just being poor.
Walking out of thrift stores with the clothes under my normal clothes, tags ripped and hidden in random clothes' pockets I brought to the fitting room with me. Bring some random thicker clothing to the fitting room to hide the empty hangers and leave quickly without acting too sus. Don't leave empty hangers or ripped tags in the fitting rooms.
I don't have the balls to try and steal clothes with the magnetic tags or items that I can't bring into the fitting room. I've done it once and idk if I should do it more.
Wish it were possible to "shoplift" online lmao.

Amazon return/refunds are pretty easy to pull off and usually you can just asskiss your way (please, thank yous, have a wonderful day, sorry to bother you etc etc) into getting a refund without even having to send anything back. Their only other options are to dump it, or put it in one of those returns stores (or whatever they are called) and both cost much more money for them than to just give you money back.
Works better when buying secondhand from them so at least when you say it doesn't work it's to be expected, rather than trying to conjure an unreasonable story of how something brand new doesn't work out of the box.

Well some time has passed so ill tell my most recent experience...
Initially this was going to be a visit towards a certain office supplies store, let's call it Maples. Now at the time was feeling a bit like soykaf and decided a visit towards Maples might liven things up somewhat and give myself a morale boost. Initially this would have been the just the first part of planning and deciding what I wanted and feeling up the place as well as seeing if the time i currently was visiting is viable or not(it was, which was around 2:00-3:00 in the afternoon). Part of why I chose this store/company was it notorious for maybe just being the easiest store to hit up since its cameras were only relegated toward the registers, there were supposedly no LP or hands on, and many of the typical stores had a "dated layout"(what that means idk but only figured it would make things easier)
However, the one I visited had the usual "you are being watched" monitor as you enter the store and its layout was where the only exit is going through the cash registers once you entered. So I go in start looking for what I could probably use, which was USBs,SD Cards and hardrives. In looking around, I am feeling confident, since probably around 80% of the employees are women meaning I could probably count on there being less aggression involved. It all helped that the employees were either busy helping customers figure out whatever they are doing, doing cash register and the few that were left were chatting among themselves.
I decided then and there I would skip the planning and go for it. So it takes some moments to find what I want since I had been there before but they had moved them and toward the back. This however likely made me more noticeable since I was going around the store more and lingering a bit much. So I browse the merch, and the external harddrives were locked in the back(just were plastic boxes that you hand in to buy the actual product) and the SDs and USBs were just in plastic boxes in an attempt to make it harder to conceal(which didnt matter since I am walking out and can just step on it ). I then place a couple of USBs and some SD cards in the handbasket and begin making my way toward the entrance and wait around for a bit and continuously act like Im busy on my phone(why not let someone else make an exit for me). Time goes by and the busyness I was counting on isnt anywhere to be found, so being that it is suspicious as hell that I am waiting around the entrance, I move off to "browse" a nearby section somewhat close to the entrance. Again time passes and nothing. I just go back toward the entrance area and wait patiently and about a minute later a person enters and as soon the person is well inside with their back turned(I didnt want them close or seeing me exit as they enter in case they decided play captain corporate) and the door clear, I immediately walk the fuq out with quick pace(I mean REAL quick).
Now comes the fluke, why a fluke? Because it honestly seemed like an employee was playing "hero"(but for who idk, also pretty sure this got him fired since it did not seem like his official job). Now I am walking very straight across from maples and I continue walking straight thinking I am homefree and am considering using a nearby dumpster to drop the basket, break the plastic and slide the goodies into my pockets and go about my casual day. Out of instinct/caution, I decide the dumpster is too close and too much within the periphery of the store( it was XD ). So I continue walking STRAIGHT and eventually hear someone running right behind me. This guy looked like he was already tired from running, was sternly looking at me, and was an older white dude looking like he was climbing into his 40s(maybe even 50s) and was shorter than me. Now I am turning to face him to see if he does anything extra stupid than what he is already doing(was well into another parking lot well across maples) and he is gesturing to give back the stuff. I drop the basket and keep an eye on him to be sure I am not going to be tackled when I turn my back to walk the fuq outta there. He then bends down looking into the basket and I walk left across another street and as I am walking he said in an annoyed nasally, kinda nerdy voice "fuq off" which made me almost laugh outloud since it was not what i was expecting.
And so I get away and am laughing when I am well out of the area and change up my outfit since I did not prepare at all. I take off my hoodie, turn my cap back, flip my face mask(different colored sides) and put on some sunglasses. It felt like I walked straight outta the 90s since my shirt was bright checkered pink and orange but I successfully change my profile.
In a bit of irony, after the trip I actually felt pretty cheerful and currently am still laughing about it
Lessons Learned:
-Do not over rely on the indifference of the employees & the public
-Make and stick to an actual plan
-Do Not LINGER(pretty sure this is what got me spotted)
-It is tempting to walk/go straight but it is also predictable, it leaves too much vulnerability
-Make use of corners, closer sides of nearby buildings, it will force your possible pursuers to guess which way you went.
-WATCH YOUR BACK,check your 6, whatever. looking back is critical(had I looked back sooner I couldve ran & made off, had I looked back later I would been in an actual altercation)
-Last Lesson:RUN. Walk when you know it is all clear.

I "know" someone who used to do that, then they looked into the possibility it may be considered mail fraud which is a federal crime(usa) and has a statute of 5 years. Be careful. Also they have been taking pictures of the packages they drop off to prove it was delivered as of late. Now the better safer alternative is probably claiming the item arrived damaged and they may let you keep it.

Hello,
May be my last post for a while until I think or find more useful information or get more actual experience...
use google, specifically
- Maps, plan your route(more importantly escape route) and know the terrain around the area of your target(also useful in non-shoplifting thefts/other fukkery)
- "Popular times" feature(enter the address of the store) to gauge what days and what hours are their peak/busiest(more people means less focus)
- "See Photos"/"See Outside" of the store, will give lay of the land and clue into how well sorted the store is.
- Google Reviews, could be considered overkill but skim the reviews, gives insight into the employees/management there and how much of a potential problem they could be
For better insight into the company culture, policy and general employee morale, visit their subreddit( https://old.reddit.com/r/ ), I usually search the following keywords
- shoplift (usually gets the most useful results)
- shoplifter
- shoplifting
- shoplifting policy
- policy
- policies
- fired
- theft
- turnover
- loss prevention
- hiring
- lp
- camera
- cameras
- walkout
For additional insight into the store, its policies, employees, and general morale use indeed. On indeed:
- again look at the company's reviews(especially your area)
- look into reviews by loss prevention employees (actually learned some of the policies this way)
- Many listings for a particular store means many distractions to take advantage of
Refering back to previous post about youtubing the store_name + shoplifting, it is important to take note of the camera placement & angles
A tactic i have never tried but am working on is using employee uniforms to simply walkout with the goodies(I am starting a collection from previous employers)
some examples
https://invidious.snopyta.org/watch?v=DrwEqfa57Pc
https://invidious.snopyta.org/watch?v=38P0m__291k -(only if youre ambitious)
Last tip for shoplifting is if caught/spotted whatever, it is better not to say anything, from what I understand simply saying fuarrrk off to an employee or whoever would likely constitute robbery( usa :/ ).
Onto to another unsavory type of theft, which is stealing the pizza driver signs that adorns that of local pizza delivery drivers. This idea was from a satanist posting a video on how to get away with DUIs (tried finding the video on youtube but it was probably taken down or removed by the guy). You are probably asking "why would I want a sign like that?" A major reason is to somewhat mask your vehicle and also provide plausibe reasons for being in any one area. No one really questions couriers. This type of theft is something of a ballsy move since you are stealing from an actual person and are working with a limited window of time from when they get out to get their next delivery and leave again for another.
Now here's how to do it
1. Go to the pizza restaurant of your choice
2. Wait until one the marked delivery cars arrives
3. Wait until the driver gets out and enters the building
4. Depending if there are people are nearby Walk(only if the public is present)/Run(no one is watching) toward the car
5. Yank the motherfukker off since the magnets are one of the stronger types
6. Walk(again, only if the public is present)/Run( same,no one is watching) away quickly

Stealing the pizza car sign thing sounds smart but I know some companies use a consistent model of car for most of their deliveries, so if you're driving around with a different vehicle than what's normally seen you might get caught faster. Be mindful of what's local etc etc

It happened to two of my friends and has been confirmed as an intentional strategy to me by three friends who worked as loss prevention for a few years. If you check your local arrests papers you'll likely find many people with theft over 500 charges that stem from similar operations. It's a widespread strategy.

I'm the 'imblying theft is frugality' anon and I'd like to interject for a moment in defense of my position.
Saying theft ain't frugality isn't a moral judgement, its just a disagreement over the use of the term. I hate dictionaries so lets look at what wikipedia had to say about frugality back when the article was written by just one editor.
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Frugality&oldid=25403932
>individuals are both restrained in acquiring and in resourcefully using economic goods and services
>The frugalist emphasizes non or lessened consumption
A key point of frugality is control on consumption and acquisition, and to these ends theft is quite similar to buying. Now you might try and argue that theft is the frugal approach, with respect to money. Stealing doesn't use any money at all, afterall. So its frugal, in a lawyerly, which is to say deliberately misleading, sense anyway. At the end of the day theft is still acquisition.
That's not to say a frugal person can't steal, of course not! But saying one is the other, or even implies the other, is going pretty far out on a limb. Might be a correllation, but its not too strong.

Dumpster diving in uni dumpsters at the end of a semester can be really good. Apartment complexes that cater to uni students can also be really good since most of the leases end at the same time. You'll get furniture people don't have the means to move, uni supplies like laptops, and salvageable broken goods. Don't overlook the textbooks. You can resell them and even uf you can't find a buyer, university book stores usually have buy-back programs where you can sell the book.
Burglary is bad and dumb. You'll get caught.

https://xshopliftingx.blogspot.com/2017/05/planning-for-shoplifting-haul.html
Note while the information is many years old, many of the principles remain the same. In addition to this, it is very important to take baby steps and start small in terms of a store and its difficulty, I recommend testing yourself against dollar stores since they generally have a decent inventory, both in terms what could be considered basic necessities(bandaids, toothpaste, hygiene, clothing which is helpful for hitting other places, cheap tools and fuarrrking food) and more minor recreational items(seasonal items, holiday decorations, toys and treats whatever).
On another note, I have been able to dumpster dive as of lately, with mostly minor to moderate success. Surprisingly this is considered to be trespass or theft by cities and their ever wise ordinances. I was able to find a working bike but decided to use it as a backup for any emergencies rather than risk it on the soykafty roads I live by to steal soykaf. Here is my method of dumpster diving:
-Walk the dog at 11
-Carry a mini flash light
-Peek at the recycling bin(sometimes the actual trash bin but usually not)
-If there is any signs a house is being renovated or moved out of, inspection is a requirement
-If there was any house or bins of note, I start diving @1AM
-If a car approaches, I usually go biking on my merry way and quit within 15 minutes of being seen, if seen
-If I make any significant noise, I bail since I have had the cops called on me(was not caught but saw them pass by)
-Lastly if there is food waste or yard waste I usually consider the bin a waste of time
Besides the bike, I have found tools, watches, $20 and some jewelry. If anyone has some input or tips on how to improve on hauls or finding them, I would be grateful
>>8474
Thank you for this, these are good reads :)
Lastly, again requesting from any Lainons for support on how to steal street signs and if any Lainon has any experience stealing from walgreens. Anyway...
It is surprisingly easy to return sealed items with the item missing for a full refund. Bezos company is the easiest, iphones etc. Object of similar weight will have to be substituted. Can even buy 'display' phones from China. Anti-tamper stickers and packaging can also be purchased.
In my country at least change of mind refunds are offered within 15 days for any reason as long as the box is still unopened and factory sealed.

>"Lyft scooter mechanic here. Not sure when or where that model is from, but, at least here in Denver, the vast majority are 2.2. The main differences is how you access the battery area and the IOT (GPS brain part.) IOT is a similar removal, but different cables. As for accessing the battery hatch, there's 3 things to get through if you don't have their nfc crap. One is more security torx to remove a plastic piece next to the rear wheel. Thus will expose the rear light cable, as well as 2 pentagon bits. After you remove the penta bits there's a keyhole. We have the keys, but they're basically just flat pipes of metal, so you can probably just pick your way in. This will get you access to the majority of the cablage, and, of course, the battery. Really nice, bug batteries. I don't know if any replacement IOT will work with the control board, which is in the base, and accessible by removing 4 triangle bits. All that being said, get one with tires that are intact because replacing them suuucks. Also, as a lyft mechanic, screw em. Modify to your hearts content. For legal reasons, don't steal them. But uhm. I won't tell..."
>"It's just a DC motor, switch, and battery. Why do you need to keep all those electronics in there? You're just getting rid of the GPS module and rewiring a throttle switch between a battery and motor. That's how Amazon and wish sell that BS"
Honestly Lainon, would just take a few off the beaten path(not all at once and not the same areas) and scrap em(for study/practice and spare parts to possibly make your own or fixing your own scooter once you have disabled tracking) probably could sell them when you get good enough.

There is need for a discussion on plain-sight theft, Post more if possible. My "social engineering" amounts to wearing some decent clothing(looking slightly "upper class"),walking in busy looking at my phone and walking out at brisk pace while seeming busy looking at a receipt(I try to find receipts from the same store).
Security and the typical employee uniform usually make for smooth sailing since no one knows anyone anymore

Nah, those times were the best, when you didn't have anything to loose. I was alive until I got a real job and rented an apartment. I could do whatever I wanted with nearly no consequences and now I'm a boring npc. I'm also 30 but married to a girl that don't understand this soykaf. She's from a wealthy family and repeats the same old cringe discourse. I stopped doing whatever I felt like with her because she can be a nightmare with borderline stuff everybody does like not paying a metro ticket.
In my case, i just walked out and ran if somebody noticed it. If I was hungry, I grabbed something from the store and eat there because it was harder to hide and the guards didn't care enough to stop me at the exit most of the times. Only once I got caught but after joking a bit with the cashier, she let me pay it and didn't call the guards or the police.
I began stealing because I never had money like the other kids in school and after making some friends, we just kept doing it because it was fun (we still didn't have enough money with us to buy whatever we wanted, but it wasn't the main reason).

A neighbourhood I lived in had a grocery store that was new and alleged to be a front for the Hell's Angels (who have a number of reasons to run legitimate businesses and I can think of several for owning a grocery store). They did not call the police on shoplifters. Their loss prevention plan involved the accused, a flight of stairs and a sudden stop at the end.

None of the stores where I live have security. No one checks to see if you've paid, you can just walk out. The fact is that little businesses require more support from the community than big ones. Where I live the small businesses charge more than the big ones but still get a lot of business because the community appreciates that they're local and not part of some huge corporation.

>Plenty of evidence which shows that thievery is bad for businesses.
The question is whether thievery was a significant contributor to going out of business. I remain dubious that this could be true when there are so many other factors.
In any case, small businesses tend to protect themselves from thieves a lot more than large ones. You won't find a shotgun behind the counter of a 7-11.

Are you acting dumb on purpose? Obviously stealing from a family owned store is bad for their business. Just because it doesn't singlehandedly destroy the store doesn't mean that stealing from them has no significant effect.

The topics are only distantly related, but I don't want to kill a thread by starting a new one. I figured you lads would know a few things about concealing items.
I am doing all of this in Minecraft. I never have never conducted illegal actions and never will.
Back in the day, my grandfather (a fellow Minecraft Gamer) has gifted me his old utility iron sword. However, I can lock this sword in my inventory, which is not permitted by the rules of the clan whose territory I'm going to enter. The clan border security is quite strict, requiring me to empty my inventory, and there are command blocks all over the place that scan my inventory for possessions.
My grandfather has stopped playing Minecraft some time ago, and this sword is one of the few things that remind me of him. However, clan leaders don't like people entering with swords. Could I perhaps put an enchantment on the sword for it to go past the command blocks, or put it in some special shulker box?
Any advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. I'll be going back to Gaming now.

The library is part of the state library so I will try to steal a book from another library.
The books have RFID tags like in the pic, and there are cameras. I can get past the cameras but how do I bypass the RFID tag? Do i wrap the book in aluminum foil or something? I want to get my revenge against that cunt.

Thing is, those command blocks are really designed to find swords, and your peace of mind in your server being grief-proof relies on that.

This is like the number one way to shoplift things, just go to the back of the garden center area and chuck soykaf over the fence or slide it under and collect it later, or have someone waiting there to receive it. For bigger soykaf you could use fence cutters on the bottom of the fence at night time to have just enough push room then come back during the day.

It was surprisingly easy. I just located the cameras which are quite obvious in plain sight and from a corner slipped a can of ice tea inconspicuously into my pocket. Before leaving I bought some pastry so I wouldn't draw any attention walking out of the store empty handed.

I used to shoplift all the time in my teens. Always from major chains and corporate hacks, stealing from small businesses (not that there are any left nowadays) is evil. CVS was a goldmine of free iced teas, beefsticks, and tobacco pipes. Overpriced supplements were my favorite things to steal though. Eventually a friend got caught lifting a pipe, and then they really started ramping up security past the point of it being feasible.
These days, occasionally if I am in a food store I will just quietly pocket a few things not worth paying for, if you are already buying a bag full of stuff noone is going to think twice about you. Awareness is key, and not allowing yourself to feel paranoid.
I think shoplifting in general is just way harder nowadays with all this soykafty technology designed to prevent theft. God forbid the corporate hacks lose a few bucks to a person who needs something and cant afford it. I feel bad for the kids nowadays. Back when I was young it was like the wild west compared to nowadays.

Does lain have any information about return fraud? Specifically the lengths stores go to, what evidence they could use against you, etc.
So I've been buying broken computer parts online, then the real deal from walmart or best-buy. Swapping out internals using a cellphone repair kit and returning it. Retailers dont (or maybe cant?) ask to see ID on cash money returns, but cameras are everywhere and this feels just too easy. There's nothing to it and free $200+ part. Any knowledge about this would be valuable.

1. Plastic slug tokens for dumb mechanical vendors, e.g. gumball and capsule toy (gachapon) machines. Nothing fancy, the coin only has to fit diameter and thickness dimensions. You could probably cut tokens out of appropriate thickness modelling plastic sheets or use a 3D printer given that filament, precision setting and electricity prices in your area make it economical.
2. Expropriating coins from shopping carts. Certain German supermarket chains present in new World, as well as most European international and sub-national chains have been using a coin deposit chain locking device on their shopping carts since late 80's. Carts are usually parked in sheds around parking lots linked with a chain, you insert a coin to unlock the cart from the row, this coin acts as incentive for you to bring the cart back to the row and lock it up, avoiding stray carts on the parking lot scratching cars and blocking passages. This obviously doesn't prevent carts or locks (usually secured with Security Torx T20 bolts) from being moved outside parking lots or outright stolen.
First tip: employees carry special master-keys which mimics coin shape in the right spots to unlock the cart but doesn't require docking it back into locked position to remove (they might have to use more than one cart at a time). These are fairly simple in design and you can buy online or find sketches to cut your own out of plastic or metal, sometimes 3D print (check thingieverse).
Second tip: locks in some countries require a fairly large deposit, like 1 full unit of their currency: 1 Pound, 1 Euro, 1 Dollar. With 15 dollar minimum wage in United States for example, you only need to expropriate 15 1-dollar coins in under one hour to reach this baseline. You should choose the well-off area where shoppers are fine with giving 1-dollar tip to supermarket employees who stalk these carts around parking lot and would be your primary competition, a particular busy hour of the day and week when most people shop around keeping eyes off you, absent competition from other bums (should be some sort of posh unwalkable suburb if we're talking about USA here).
The most popular lock mechanism is Systec Duraloc, especially on carts belonging to German franchises. There are other designs, with arrowhead and toothed bolts. In Duraloc the coin gets unlocked when you push the protruding spring-loaded part in. Full loop design of the chain-connected locking bolt prevents it from wiggling around, but a small hook made out of thick wire or a loop made out of same thickness multi-strand electrical copper wire pushes it firmly and lets you extract both the coin and the tool. Alternatively, you can use a combination of master key and original bolt cut from some other cart or it's identical copy. Lock the bolt -> extract coin -> Insert master key -> remove bolt -> remove master key, but it's faster to use the specialized picks as described.

self-checkout, would generally look around before started shopping for either manager and the very obvious LP guys in plain clothes. if i couldn't find either it was good to go: would get a whole bunch of soykaf in my bag, wait till self checkout was crowded, scan one thing, leave.
generally i would wear as clean clothes as possible, clean in the sense that it looks well put together. not necessarily upper-class but just kind of 'respectable.' I did also try my luck there by looking as if i lived in the apartments right above - socks and slides, no jacket, sweatpants on. this worked too, but i ended up being caught while wearing those.
i visited once a week, almost always between 3pm and 7pm. when i got caught it was just before they were closing, which i think was part of it. i got caught by LP that I hadn't checked before nor seen before. i am certain all the other employees knew I was stealing but didn't care because when this one finally caught me they all seemed quite sympathetic and not one of them was taking it very seriously, bar the soykaffucker LP guy.
favorite steal was most definitely when i got almost one of literally every meat item there was. rough estimate of how much i stole then was ~$150.
the main takeaway from all of this is that your average wagie really doesn't care and for the most part might even root you on as long as you can have a degree of plausible deniability. occasionally you will have a self-righteous corporate bootlicker that tries to fuarrrk you over. members of the public, at least where i live, truly do not care. most of them steal too, but on a smaller scale.

Why are you guys shoplifting instead of say dumpster diving, hunting, recycling...? WAY less risk involved (not illegal) and more morally right, if you believe in that stuff. You have a lot more to lose than the big supermarket chain you're stealing from (at least you should, otherwise you wouldn't be stealing in the first place).

>What happens when theft becomes so rampant the store closes?
Most of the people who glorify shoplifting live in rich areas where crime is low, so this is not a real risk for them.
Also, most big box stores are plenty profitable because they can take advantage of economies of scale, in almost all cases I know of (even cases where management blamed shoplifters) it's just because management is bumbling retards that don't do their jobs right, hired a bunch of imbiciles that didn't work, and basically let things go to soykaf.

People used to steal from me regularly, and the police said that it doesn't matter because they only enforce the law if enough was stolen to amount to a certain value. Criminals know this and keep their theft below the value so they won't get in trouble.
One time I caught someone in the act of stealing and macheted him just enough to where he could get away, but he never came back after that. You may be okay with stealing, but some people don't play games when their belongings get taken.

It's the bookstore bro, not The Italian Job. Barnes & Noble probably still has a no-chase policy.
If you're feeling too paranoid to just walk out with soykaf while saying "what? oh, no thanks, I'm good" over your shoulder if they yell after you, you can browse around, select a stack of books, buy an Americano and English toffee at the Starbucks, and go sit in an armchair like you're going to have a closer look. I used to sit there reading for a good 45 minutes or whatever just in case, so they'd get bored watching me, lol. Then as you read you just casually stick books into your bag over time like you're putting them back where they came from. I would show up with some of my own books already in it so I could leave it open and create further book-origin ambiguity. Check for RFID tags inside cover, on pages near cover, inside spine if there's space, inside dust cover, and anywhere else there are crevices to hide stuff in (without cutting/gluing). Sometimes places use a long, skinny one just kind of loose in the middle of the book somewhere. Or one of the square ones still on its backing. So let the pages dangle and thumb through them a couple of times to check for those. Other than that, uh, enjoy lol. Jack some Moleskine or Field Notes or Rite in the Rain or whatever while you're at it, and maybe one of those nice little Sheaffer chisel-nib fountain pens by the journals if they still have those.
I don't know what else, uh, if you find a tag still on its backing then stick it to the bottom of your shoe, then if you set the alarm off you can act confused for a second and then "notice" it and walk away while laughing loudly over whatever bullshit they're trying to say to you. It's not hard or anything, don't overthink it lol
If you have any bookstores with regular dumpsters and you don't care about your books having covers, those could still be worth a look. In fact books with the covers torn off are great candidates to be broken down for high-quality scanning

Really nice thread! I am not a born shoplifter (actually I pretty much suck at it) and I always envyied the people capable of doing it with nonchalance. Also, I already have some trials going on because of partaking in protests that were attacked by the pigs, so I definitely cannot afford anymore to be caught for something so trivial as shoplifting or my attorney will kill me. I was thinking about the safest way to shoplift, and the best I could think about is de-activating RFID and use automatic cashiers normally, buying some cheap legit stuff and being confident that the other, more pricey items, will not be read by the apparatus. If someone stops you at the exit, you can just pretend that there was a malfunction in the automatic cashier that you did not even notice, and prove it by showing that the RFID is not working. Do you lainons think it is possible, somehow, to deactivate an RFID? I tought of building a jammer but that would interfere also with legit items, and buying something just to show you are doing it is a crucial part of this tactic. Cutting it can get you in trouble if they notice at the exit, it should be a non-visible damage. For the same reason, sticking tinfoil around the RFID is not viable. Maybe strong magnets can generate malfunction? But as far as I read online it is also not viable (if someone knows why I would be happy to know it, for genuine scientific curiosity). I read that extreme heath can cause malfunction, so one of these days I will try sticking a lighter under the RFID for a minute in the dressing rooms, lemme know if someone already tried and if it works. Any other ideas about how to impair RFIDs for shoplifting are much welcome :)
Also, a tip from my old high scool philosophy teacher (lol): in big stores, one good and completely safe way to have cheap stuff is to exchange the tags of similar objects of very different price (ex. 100 euros shorts with 5 euros shorts). Usually the cashiers do not recall by memory each item, so they will just see "shorts" written on the scanner and shorts in your bucket and will suppose the price is legit, and you will walk out with 100 euros worth shorts that you bought for 5 euros. If they notice, no problem! You can even look annoyed and say them "Aaaaah, please pay more attention when you place the tags! I was so happy for having found this discounted gem...". Nobody can prove that you exchanged tags on purpose.
Also, another tip, this time from my mother (experienced lumpen), somewhat less useful because of lower succes rate but at absolute 0 risk: put stuff into other stuff! Some time ago at a famous sportswear retail I witnessed her putting nice polarized sunglasses into a cheap glasses case, and then walking to the cashiers: nobody noticed the glasses inside (or maybe they tought it was a bundle, idk) so she only paid for the case and not for the glasses. As usual, if they notice, is not your fault! It is the cashier that did not notice the stuff inside, and you just did not notice that the cashier did not notice ;) If the cashier actually realizes there is stuff inside that has to be paid separately and you do not want to really buy it, you can just argue that you were testing that case/backpack/whatever and forgot to take the stuff out, so you can put it back in place and only buy the container. For obvious reasons, this works better for old-fashioned, barcode-only stores/items. If there is an RFID, you have to find a way to avoid it ringing at the exit (this can be an actual usecase for a jammer, but probably it is not worth the effort).
For any cops reading, this is obviously all theoretical, a work of fantasy that I invented only because I like to appear cool to my edgy wired friends ;)

You can just straight up steal anything you want in any big city Apple store, no one will stop you. Most of the stuff in an Apple store is in a dummy box for this reason, but when they have new stuff like new Beats, you can just grab it and walk out. Free $250 item. It's strange that you mention hunting among these. Poaching, presumably, is what you mean. There's several issues:
You might kill a sick animal. You may consume said animal and become sick from it. To my knowledge, the people who test and certify the meat will only work with you if you have paperwork. That animal may have served better off reproducing. Too many people poaching in an area can cause ecological gaps. There's tons of reasons not to poach, egoist and non-egoist.

1. 100% cotton clothing is great
2. Wool coats with synthetic downs are SHIT, however, wool coats with cotton downs (or non-kosher linen downs) are ultra-based due to the vapor regulation properties aka sweat prevention capabilities aka "breathing"
3. Holster-like bags are based too, but... make cops nervous.
4. Leather backpacks are useful if you plan to wear two-piece suit and tie yet carry more stuff than an attache case for papers and pens.

7. 2-piece suits are cheap. Still, blazers that look above the average price can be found. Look up "how to tie a tie like a ninja", though, suit and tie > suit
