Latin Lain Fansub

I'm here to shill my shitty project · 2021-04-28 06:40
I know this isn't what most people mean by DIY but... We're trying to create a Latin fansub of Lain. https://git.lain.church/xandre/Lain-Latin-Fansub Do you know Latin, or have fansubbing skills? We could use volunteers. I want to learn Latin while watching anime, damnit, It is the only way.

Why, exactly? People only learn Latin when it is required as a tool, say for scientific applications. Learning it isn't impossible, but considering you just want to do it as a hobby I don't have much faith that you'll be successful.

>>6653 >>6654 It's also just a fun language, linguistically speaking. I know a lot of language nerds who are really into Latin solely for the novelty of it. I think this is a fine project, but my latin skills are garbo atm so I'll watch from the sidelines unless somethings stirs in me and I decide to get back into it.

Latin is a weird language. Very fluid syntax because the words fit together by their endings rather than their position, unlike Germanic languages. You would do better to translate directly from Japanese to Latin. Double translating is no good at all, you will introduce significant errors. I learned Latin years ago in school and I'm no good at it any more.

>>6727 If someone can find a japanese transcription I could try helping with more literal/direct translations. My japanese is def not perfect but I think I could manage.
