Ever did hackjobs for photo/video production, or arts in general? Curious what fruits of such labor other lainons might hide under their belt. My measly past achievements include: >dimmable RGB LED panels (rant: high-cri is so expensive) >follow focus with a wii controller, following this guide: https://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Lens-Controller-Synchronized-ZoomFocus-/ >A-B programmable slider motor >a RasPi sensorbox that would respond to phyisical interactions with pre-recorded sounds (coded as an automata, it was tons of fun to create scenarios that could progress (i.e. the box tells you to do stuff in a certain order). Downside was the fairly large number of unavoidable yet hilarious corner case mis-reads when interacting with so many sensors at once. For the /λ/sec/-inclined lainon that may happen to own a canon camera, you've probably heard about Magic Lantern. For the others, let me briefly summarize: >ML is basically a hacked firmware 'add-on' that unlocks a ton of features useful for video production (focus peaking, zebras, vectorscopes, raw video). As both a reverse engineering enthusiast and a more or less proficient videographer, it feels like I've found my magic unicorn with these guys. My old camera was supported by them, but for the new one I have to hop onto the dev team and it's been feeding my curiosity and motivation like crazy, especially since one can't just go out shooting as much as before the health crisis shenanigans. Hopefully my tone in the last paragraphs sounds less like astroturfing and more like gleeful excitement. And also hopefully, some more skilled lainons may peer deeper.
