What can you actually do against a cult?

My brother's gotten in deep with some group and keeps trying to drag me along, is he already too far gone? Should I be preparing for the worst? am I just wasting my time worrying about him?

if he's your brother then I assume you care a great deal for him and should try earnestly to help if you think he is in error. Might not hurt to go along to understand whats going on, and to not alienate him with regard to this situation.

>>14236 He's been bleeding cash to them, shaving his dome, and dropping weight like crazy and used to be fit. Keeps repeating that none of this is real. Sounds like some kind of gnostic horseshit

People fall into cults because cults give them a sense of purpose and brotherhood. That means whatever they did prior felt meaningless and empty to them. Cults fill the void and explain why it felt empty "you were just living a lie, but now you will start living for real." People around usually just worsen the situation because they keep nagging them about how they used to be "normal and cool", and think reminding them about their empty past life would help pull them back "to normality."

>>14238 contact the authorities and ask for ans someone specialized in the field, to which you can describe the cash matters and everything around it. Now nigger.

>>14238 does he believe the bible or anything ? You can argue against it
Nemissa · 2026-08-16 09:05
>>14234 you can try deprogramming him: just sit and argue against the cult doctrine from a critical perspective. believe it or not, it works, but it is tedious, like manually debugging a million vibecoded lones the other obvious answer is to cut your loses: tell your parents about it so he doesn't lure them in, and if possible, convince them disown him so the the family property (if there is any) doesn't go to the cult after they die. functionally it is the same as a drug addict

>>14234 what type of cult it is though? any details or anything?
Frank Garza · 2026-08-17 18:02
>>14234 What usually separates a cult from a religion, is that cults usually have a centralized leadership, and are able to effectively exploit their members for resources and power. Consequently, their leadership is almost always corrupt and hedonistic. Perhaps you can try and find evidence of this to sway your brother. Furthermore, the techniques used by cults to indoctrinate members are well documented. Try talking with him about what he finds valuable in his membership . Perhaps you can make connections between his experience and documented cult indoctrinations.

we can help you formulate arguemnts and strategize but we cannot if we know literally nothing about the nature of this cult

>>14238 You can't prove that anything is real. So good luck with that.
William Holtzer · 2026-08-18 11:20
>>14252 its doubtful that the brother actually believes in nothing. If nothing is real why does the cult need money lol.
