Interior design general. As much as I prize minimalism, I'm starting to tire of my home looking like a hotel room. Share what you like and dislike about your place and your friends'. Talk about what works and what doesn't. Functionality is relevant too. I probably don't need to say that. Bonus question: would a Solarized or Nord theme living space look nice? There are plenty of color schemes people apply to interior design, why not take a computing color palette?

I just go to vintage furniture stores and pick up stuff that looks nice and feels like home to me. I went to fedex and printed some posters I like, Silent Hill, Phoenician Scheme, etc. I keep things as open as possible because I like rolling around on the floor and moving things around a lot, and I keep my AV setup in a corner facing my desk so I can listen to vinyls and get even volume in my ears. Bookshelf for extra BS.

I started with a good desk, office chair, and a bookshelf then once I had those where I wanted them I slowly found things to fill in the gaps at thrift stores. I got a good nightstand, a second bookshelf, etc. I think it's something that just evolves naturally depending on your needs and hobbies. The only real advice I have is keep powerstrips around in case the way things looks is really nice but blocks off the outlet so then you can just use a powerstrip and route it so it's out of the way. Common tip yeah but it's so easy to overlook a reminder seemed fair.

>>13277 >>13277 >>13277 I think I live the other way round: I started in a maximalist's apartment cluttered with stuff like vases, porcelain and teapots, let alone random junk Now I have a sofa/bed, a matress atop of it, wardromes ... So, here are some of my tricks. 1. Many shelves in enclosed closet = the place to stash laptops and briefcase-like bags full of kits for this or that 2. Bedstands are cozy. COZY!!! 3. Still, never charge your phone on one. Youll get distracted af. Use a cheap smartphone, that's not connected to anything, to watch stuff and distract yourself from distracting yourself (sounds weird but, oddly enough, works for me)
