Can one build a non electronic voice changer? I am drawing inspiration from the Jurassic Park voice box, whistles, and that thing which happens when you talk into a fan. I don't know the science but surely there is away to 3d print something that could fit into a mask?

Your voice sounds like it does from how air flows in your mouth, nose and throat so I think a silicone mouthpiece that alters the shape of your mouth would change your voice. If not the effect you want then a sheet of wax paper or aluminum foil in front of your mouth making something akin to a large kazoo. You also can use long plastic tubes for reverb but that would be a lot larger than you describe. Is this for a costume?

Yeah, I am lazy though so I would rather not have to learn how to do electronic stuff. Ironic on this site I know but I lack the attention span. Thank you for the input though I never thought of something like foil.

This has been a great thread, thank you for your valuable input.

If this is sarcasm it is misguided. Don't talk back to your betters or I'll have to teach you a few lessons.

This has got to be the worst troll attempt I've ever seen. The premise of a non-electric voice changer is a good idea for many reasons. Idk anything about it. I just use AI.

Some are tech illiterate and also post apocalypse. I thought it was sarcasm which is why I had to defend my terf.

Learn to read tech then. Look into books on acoustics or try to listen to what the first lainon had to say.
And also, yes, I was being sarcastic.

Im not as good at committing as you fine people

What about analogue electronic?
>Lazy
>buy a throat mic
>very easy
>buy a pickup mic with a headphone jack
>attach to throat with cord able to tighten
>beginner to intermediate
>buy a cheap piezo mic
>wire to headphone jack
>make a casing
>attach to throat

Then you just use a voice changer app and muffle your mouth so less can be heard from your mouth. Could even tape your mouth shut just have a few holes to let more air out of it so you can somewhat talk normal.

Throat mics are like that thing from black lagoon, right? The chainsaw girl

Been a long time since I saw it. It's a contact microphone placed near your vocal cords to pick up sounds directly from your throat to not pick up outside noise. They get used by the military and I think in motorsports.

Im thinking of an electric larynx then

Now you mention it Wikipedia says early versions were mechanical using no electronics. I am having trouble finding out how those work even more so.

Noise artists often use variations, too. I've been tinkering with one myself, it can make some gnarly sounds when put through pedals.
Yet Another Lainon · 2024-11-01 18:56
It kinda sounds almost like you want a talk box, which basically pipes sound from a speaker into your mouth while you speak silently.

Instead of breathing out when you talk, breathe in when you talk. They won't be able to stop laughing at you long enough to figure out who you are.

Should add that you might want to be careful since your vocal cords wont be used to this but yes it has a sort of guttural sound
Hououin Kyouma · 2024-11-05 03:04
You could just use one of those Punch and Judy swazzle gadgets when you fight crime or whatever the fuarrrk you think you're doing.
