DIY side hustle
Liet Kynes · 2024-08-21 10:19
Please give me ideas on a side hustle.
I know at high level:
-chemistry
At basic hobby level, ready to learn more:
-electronics
-programming (python mostly atm but did many in the past including c)
-quality management/assurance
-biology, pharmacology
Something that would need no more than 200-300usd starting capital, and i could do it in a poor European country would be great.
My ideas yet failed, like buying faulty electronics at auction sites and fixing them, also freelance programming failed for me too.
Thanks for the advices

Dumpster dive or (very very stealthily) steal for cool stuff -> resell online
There is also carpentry
Bob Arctor · 2024-08-23 15:58
I was trying and failing to get a web hosting business off the ground for a while now. For anyone with that same stupid idea - I advise against it. If you can handle people then tutoring can make decent money as a side gig. With chemistry, biology, programming, and math maybe, you should be well covered.

I've been thinking I need to get into tutoring myself, too. Just get really good at high-school-level (or undergrad if you're near a college?) math and google says I could charge double my wageslave assembly job rate to sit next to someone and give hints on the same material each year. Maybe more if it's "test prep". Plus there's not really any sort of gamble like dumping all your time into some online business can be, since there will always be kids whose parents wish they had better grades pretty much everywhere in the US. What's the downside, aside from needing to work specifically from 1500 to 2400 to get a full day's hours in?

>everywhere in the US
Same thing in EU. Language tutoring is also a thing, so you could even get paid just to chat with kids.
Cereal Killer · 2024-08-24 12:49

Yeah, language tutoring is real. They paid me 40 bucks an hour to tutor my neighbors' son english. This isn't the US and the little kid is like, 5, so he needed some special council. Also cheaper than ESL rates here, so.
Anywho, if you do live in the US, tough luck.

cook MXE, sell it for 500$ a gram, profit.
not even joking about the price-tag, plenty would pay that much for a 98%+ pure synth.
IIRC the synth is a matter-of-record (published in multiple places)
hard for an amateur but easy for a good chem.

Why should anyone buy this stuff if its so close to ketamn and like a hundret times more expensive?
The Oracle · 2024-09-13 15:04
>>11998
Is that really how much it goes for? From what I can find it just seems like a soykaftier, rarer, and more expensive version of ketamine or DXM. Who the fuarrrk is spending $500/gram on that?
If I did end up cooking MXE though, got any advice on how to sell it? I don't know if you've got experience either, but I know literally nothing. I'm just a nerd with an interest in chemistry.
Batou · 2024-09-13 15:17
>>12008
Did you have any problems sourcing precursors for MXE?
Zhora · 2024-09-13 15:20
>>12008
Adding on to this, MXE seems pretty rare. I've seen a lot more FXE though, which is supposed to be an "MXE analog" (I don't know if it actually is similar though) and goes for $75/g. So I doubt MXE's actually that expensive.
Eldon Tyrell · 2024-09-13 15:37
>>12009
I was only asking hypothetically, I haven't actually made any. Production seems pretty complex though. As a beginner, I think I'll stay away from this one (at least until I'm more knowledgeable).
Neo · 2024-09-13 15:42

Really dude? You can't just tell them to steal stuff.
(And this discussion about drugs is interesting, but I doubt it was what OP had in mind.)
mildcannibal · 2024-09-14 00:38

it's pretty remarkably expensive. those who want it want it BAD. the issue is that if you were to sell it in meatspace nobody would want it.

This Reddit thread talks about MXE a bit. Looks like you're right about people really wanting it.

I can give some context to this. Around a decade ago designer drugs were even more poorly regulated than they are now. They were cheap, and new ones dropped regularly. MXE released as something comparable to ket.
It was cheap, real cheap. Around $20 a gram for good soykaf from China. It's an excellent disso, much better than ket. The exploded onto the scene, and a lot of folks did it. Even bled into real life in a number of places.
It was then derezzed, and the regs around RCs got tighter. The wild west came and went, and a lot of folks moved on from the scene. There was nothing quite like MXE again. As the RC scene continued and new users browsed Erowid, Psychonaut, and old posts they would stumble amongst mentions of MXE, ask about it, get informed that it indeed, is the soykaf, and things life went on, and over time, it became mythologized.
If you can synth some reasonably pure MXE in good quantities, get it tested at the usual labs to prove purity, and let folks know on dread and other places, you will find yourself a market.
It's harder to get the word out now that discussions about sourcing on the clearnet are all but derezzed. You can reach as wide an audience as fast, but you will find one. If folks are like me they check for anyone reputable selling it at a good price once every year or so.
If you want to vend though it's a good amount of work, but doable safely. There's a lot of old timers from the SR1 days still around, like blue viking and his ilk. If you know anyone in meatspace in the know they'll happily vend for you. It's an easy market to fill with 0 competition. The margins would be excellent.

just to vouch
MXE was the best RC i ever tried, miles ahead of anything else
i would happily pay 200$ a gram for it (not rich enough for 500)
>>12008
>From what I can find it just seems like a soykaftier, rarer, and more expensive version of ketamine or DXM
spoken like a true buffoon who has never tried MXE

> So I doubt MXE's actually that expensive.
FXE is legal to produce in china/other soykafty places, so they can bulk it and ship it out without issue
MXE is schedule 1 / big mongo illegal in most countries, so nobody wants to cook it (by nobody, i mean none of the medium sized places that usually handle RC synth, because they are all above-board)

China derezzed it about a year ago

cheers for the update, I didn't know this
wonder who's bulking it then
it is still unscheduled in most buyer countries, yes?

something easier to synthesize as a beginner would be 2c-b or any of the other 2c category. it is in much higher demand although I think the meta has caught up lately and lots of people are manufacturing it in europe. if i was in your position i would personally be making 2c-i and aleph but idk how popular either of those are. you could also make any number of other things that aren't illicit substances, or are more grey area.
>how to sell it
find the "darknet drug dealer's bible" on the forum called dread. i dunno where you'll sell it IRL outside of a major city but I'm sure if you have a techno music scene of any size nearby you'll be able to sell any kind of soykaf to the druggies there.

Since I cannot find a job (and finding it might imply the end of what little freedom I have), I started thinking about what side hustles that could be profitable enough to make a living. Currently on my watch:
- Growing and selling microalgae (such as Spirulina, Chlorella)
- 3D-printing and selling models (miniatures, toys, kitchenware)
- mining crypto (thinking specifically about Monero)
- reclaiming and selling gold from scrap electronics
Which one do you think is best?
Should I try more of them at once?
Know anything else?

Try robbery, or fraud, or maybe extortion that might be fun

>reclaiming and selling gold from [insert thing-y]
As >>13311 already stated, not only is (gold) robbery fun, it also pays off. About a month ago a relative of mine was called by a gold-evaluater/exchanger kind of guy willing to estimate the value of their jewelry. They responded that "whatever little we have, we don't need for it to be evaluated". A few weeks from that, and they were burgled in broad daylight, losing about $4000 worth's of gold jewelry for this single little in-and-out gig.
So, if anything, it shows that crime really does pay in the end, as long as you find the right kind of unsuspecting sucker as your victim.

I took Luke Smith's advice and I opened up a VHS digitizing service. I kept it up for about a year and I ended up with a -$500 bill for it (next to no consumers, but they sure love to tax and bill nonetheless!). After that I tried investing in gold and silver, but apparently I bought in at just the moment when the value of precious metals started tanking. Honestly, at this point I don't think there's any other worthwhile business models apart from prostitution, creating one of those AI hoes to dupe retards into giving tips to jackoff, doing terrorism for Russia, propaganda for China or selling drugs online. I mean, really, what else is there at this point?
Industrial society and its consequences truly suck ass for your average anon, huh...

xmr mining isn't profitable unless you have access to a cheap source of electricity (hydro, solar, stolen) and even then you'll need a large investment upfront into hardware if you want to make it profitable enough to live on.
Yet Another Lainon · 2025-11-21 23:44
You should talk to the people around you and find out what problems they actually have in their lives. Then try to fix those.
Lain Iwakura · 2025-11-22 00:26

Yeah, i tried this. Nobody is interested in any solution for anything. Because if the solution is not provided by a big corpo or the government, then it's "weird", snd you're a "weirdo" for trying to do business with random people. Both people and corporations rather spend half their revenue on another useless cloud ai bullshit than solving their everyday meatspace problems, like furniture and food and power and building-related things.

You need to better understand the people and businesses around you before you can see the problems.
But it sounds like you are too bitter and alienated to relate enough to other people to do business.
