Alright boys , how do you actually make a gun? It seems like dark magic that no one reveals , yet it is the most powerful tool to bring about any change in the world. Any legit methods to make Guns? I am curious to know.

>>11756 Luty's work is the first place most people get started on homemade firearms. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Luty I live in Northern Ireland. The Loyalists here produced sten gun clones, made in sheds and garages with desktop lathes and sheet metal benders/folders. They produced so many at the height of the Troubles they were allegedly putting serial numbers on them to know which 'battalion' and group/organisation had been issued what guns. The magazines could be bought from any army surplus store in Northern Ireland or in the rest of the UK. So there were no issues with unreliable homemade mags.

>>11758 The pakistani handmade arms industry is also booming, with clones of most western and eastern arms from the last several generations of historical guns available at bargain prices. The art of gunmaking is pretty dead outside of niche fields. Most major gun companies are owned by investment firms, and have gotten away from their innovative ways just to keep the consumer market saturated and the governments happy with a gun that cost twice as much but is only 2% different from the last one they sold the government. There is no magic to gun making. A pipe, some nails, and a rubber band is all it takes to make a gun. You just have to have a moderately higher aptitude for chemistry and machining to produce high reliability firearms. With kits, jigs, and automated machines that you can put CAD files into, it's so easy to make guns that lots of teenagers who dropped out of school are killing each other with homemade firearms. >>11764 Do Crossbow even have the killing potential and ease of learning of a gun?
Nobody special · 2024-06-29 03:59
>>11765 Absolutely. The higher the draw weight the more powerful the bow/crossbow. People take Elk and Moose with bows and crossbows, and those things are massive. A few years back here in the UK a guy in Anglesey was killed by someone who used a crossbow. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-51675341
Eldon Tyrell · 2024-06-29 05:36
>>11766 Modern hunting bows are almost all compounds these days. Compounds make it easier to shoot without needing to be deformed to be capable of pulling massive draw weight. But compounds have been built to over 100lbs and they're usually only for the largest of game. A 70-80lb compound is enough for bears. And when it comes to being an offensive weapon, the English wrecked the French on several occasions with archers. With a heavy draw weight, the riff raff were required by law to practice X amount of hours a week with the English longbow, so if an army was needed to be raised, every male of fighting age was able to wield one. This was even enacted in several laws, over several centuries from the 14th century and wasn't repealed until the 19th century. Commonly banning "unlawful games". The most famous one is the Unlawful Games Act 1541 which wasn't repealed until the Gaming Act of 1845. You'd be subject to a fine of six shiIIings and eight pence for not practicing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unlawful_Games_Act_1541 It's heavy draw weight caused deformities in people who practiced regularly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_longbow#Training >Longbows were very difficult to master because the force required to deliver an arrow through the improving armour of medieval Europe was very high by modern standards. Although the draw weight of a typical English longbow is disputed, it was at least 81 pounds-force (360 newtons) and possibly more than 130 lbf (600 N). Considerable practice was required to produce the swift and effective combat shooting required. Skeletons of longbow archers are recognisably affected, with enlarged left arms and often osteophytes on left wrists, left shoulders and right fingers.[25] If you want to see an expert with English longbows, Joe Gibbs is one such example. He's an absolute beast and can draw 200+ lbs, which is 30 lbs more than he weighs and extreme for a bow draw weight. Here's a couple of good videos of him and Tod's workshop testing longbows against armour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBxdTkddHaE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ds-Ev5msyzo Here he is running through bows from 100lbs to 200lbs. Make sure you watch from when he starts at 100 and how easily he does 160. And then when he switches to 200lbs with the 10lb band for 210lbs total. Note the size of his arms too. And remember, he's been doing this soykaf for years. https://youtu.be/MjY2QrU4sm4?si=W_Jgr7Aeu_B4CjPJ&t=90 The current official Guinness World Record for draw weight is by Englishman Mark Stretton at 200lbs twenty years ago. There are claims that in the 18th century a guy in China managed to hit the bullseye of a target using a bow with a draw weight of 240 lbs. He must have been an absolute monster who did nothing but shoot bows all his life all day every day and walked around like Quasimodo.

Slam-bang shotgun. Two bits of PVC pipe, cap, nail in it to act as the firing pin. Shell goes in the narrower one, narrower pipe goes in the wider one. Operation is simple. Best used to acquire a weapon that wasn't built with $10 worth of parts from home depot in your garage.

>>11756 Gonna be the hundredth lainon to say this but >Wikipedia >TheGatalog >Odysse >YouTube I would recommend finding a specific weapon and learn to build one really well. After you can comfortably/competently build them, switch to a different platform, rinse and repeat. I started out with AKs in my garage and googling "how to build X" and "X parts/kit for sale." Stay away from soykaf like Sonoran Desert Institute and other "gunsmithing universities. A degree from youtube university will do so much more for infinitely less. If you have a gunsmith by you that works at a gun shop, get to know those guys and talk with them. The older the better. Take note that there is a big difference between an "armorer" and a true "gunsmith" as well, where the former installs accessories and the latter specializes in manufacturing and repair. There are other building specific forums like: https://www.ar15.com https://www.theakforum.net You need an account to see posts but the admins whitelisted my account within a day, shouldn't take long https://www.akfiles.net https://www.silencertalk.com For parts and parts kits I like to look around: https://www.ak-builder.com I get most of my AKM pattern tooling from them https://www.apexgunparts.com https://armsofamerica.com https://www.ebay.com https://whatacountry.com bought my first Hungarian AK63DS from this guy, good quality kits ime https://www.gunpartscorp.com this site has everything from springs and screws to deactivated rocket launchers and grenades though they can be more expensive than some places There are hundreds more that I can't pick off the top of my head but these I use most frequently I'm a professional aerospace machinist currently and have been trained by a gunsmith that designed equipment for the american military. A word of caution, it will get very expensive very very quickly so buy once cry once and under very few circumstances should you resort to buying cheap chineseum tooling. Mitutoyo brand machinist tools are the way to go in my experience. Their quality is good while still being relatively affordable. I have been building for about five years now and will occasionally do minor repair/restorative work for friends and coworkers. Use your brain when building and pay attention to what you are doing. Some very minor mistakes that seem like insignificant details at the time can and will blow up in your face. Anyway I'm not your mom, rule one of gun safety is to have fun. I have most if not all of the original AK-47 and AKM manufacturing blueprints with a few other miscellaneous firearms in the mix with solidworks models and .stl files if you'd like them. Don't have time to get to the computer at the moment but I'll post them later if anyone so wishes. An 11.5k rated 12 gauge shell is still nearly 20 times the pressure. A half inch is 12.7mm. You'd need to find ammunition that was a half inch / 12.7mm with a psi rating lower than 630 psi not to blow apart a PVC pipe. 12.7mm is .50 BMG, which is rated for 65k psi. Here in Northern Ireland during the 70s there was a loyalist feud in the prisons. The UDA managed to smuggle guns into their section of the prison and launched an attack on the UVF section, trying to kill a UVF commander. Realising they needed to get their own guns into the prison, one of their gun makers / bomb techs realised the legs of the metal bed frames they slept on was the correct size for shotgun shells. >>12094 I'm not religious, but my grandfather was a minister for the Church Of Ireland, which is the Protestant church covering the entire island of Ireland and the largest church behind the Roman Catholic church on the island. Then you have Presbyterians, which is Scottish, then you have the Free Presbyterians, which is the Ulster/Northern Irish offshoot that didn't think Presbyterianism was Protestant enough. The founder of the "Free Ps" was Ian Paisley who most people know as the face of Protestantism, Unionism and Loyalism during The Troubles. You then have the "Orders". The Orange Order, Royal Arch Purple and Royal Black Institution. They're simply religious orders that work sort of like masonic lodges. My grandfather was a member of the Orange Order. They'd put on dances in the local orange hall, raise money for charity and get together for various religious holidays. The local orange hall, especially in rural areas, effectively acted like a community centre. My grandfather and grandmother met at a dance in their local orange hall for example. As for religion in regards to the overall conflict between the island of Ireland and Great Britain. It's extremely complicated. The majority of the leaders of the United Irishmen, who wanted Irish independence in the mid to late 18th century, where nearly all Protestant and had English, Scottish and Welsh ancestry (Wolfe Tone, from which the Republican folk band The Wolfe Tones take their name, is the best known and was Protestant). They just didn't like paying taxes to the British government and wanted more independence from British rule. They were heavily influenced by the Yanks. If you're reading stuff on The Troubles, I highly recommend Peter Taylor's three books, Provos (1998), Loyalists (1999) and Brits (2000). But a .22 LR is still capable of killing. Lyra McKee was a journalist here who was observing a riot in Derry back in 2019 when a gunman opened fire with a Hämmerli X-Esse .22 LR pistol. She was hit in the head and killed.

We already have a thread for this tovarish. It has plenty of materials on this exact topic, even. Go look at it. >>3039 anyway, I'll bite. Check The Patriot's Cookbook for basic stuff. For slam guns, Kurt Saxon's Four Winds Shotgun is the best. For more advanced weaponry, check out Professor Parabellum's stuff. Most will recommend Luty, however while Luty did a good job, you do need some technical know-how to not mess it up, and Parabellum's SMGs are made to take Sten mags as opposed to Luty SMGs that take magazines that you make yourself. If you want to get into 3D printing, check The Gatalog. Don't use DEFCAD. Also ImproGuns' work is unparalleled with documenting improvised weaponry. Go look at that. See what others are doing. Go read his blog, and his articles on TFB. https://homemadeguns.wordpress.com https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/author/improguns/ >>12096 Also Balaclava Street is a good resource on Loyalist militancy during The Troubles, especially because it's a topic that a lot of people don't focus on (hell, most people outside of the British Isles don't even know about them and just see The Troubles as "IRA vs British occupation"). The article about Loyalist guns talks about their weapons-making. https://balaclavastreet.wordpress.com/2014/12/16/terminal-effects-the-guns-of-the-loyalist-paramilitaries/

how can you expect to make a gun out of plastic or resin and not have it melt or explode or fracture somehow youre not thinking get a metal tube and a spring who are you if youre going to get a 3d printer why arent you going to buythe gun illegally or just get a security license whats so unsafe that you need one why cant you become an immigrant

>>13014 For many guns, the only load bearing component is the locking/interface section of the barrel and the bolt or slide face. Without going into the maths, there is an equation to how much mass you need to counteract the pressure of the combustion and recoil of the projectile exiting the barrel. You can read Hatcher's notebook on archive.org (it's a very large file), which describes the engineering of firearms and basically explains why guns like the AK47, AR15, and M14 all need locking bolts, while the 1911 and Glock do not. I've built guns for decades, 3d guns are a meme, and you are better off making them out of scrap metal, or even re-fabricating blank firing guns, as is the custom in some EU countries. additive manufactured plastics are just not where they need to be, and if you are trying to get a machine that makes things and is dual purpose, get a CNC machine that does milling and drilling, and just fabricate high quality components from historical blueprints or make them from military standards. CNC machines also have many other uses, like you can make custom artwork that you can sell on the interwebs. There are also a lot of black market gun sellers, and even Shinzo Abe's assassin who used off the shelf parts to make a cyber shotgun with electrical priming.

Really gotta figure out the use case before figuring out what methods work best. Sometimes (most times for individuals) it's not worth it making a gun from scratch unless you really wanna be the one person to kill someone important, and you live somewhere you can't find a gun.

>>11827 Funny how the elite of Japan never reacted strongly to that and immediately removed the immigration policies that the murderer killed Abe over. It's almost as if the lone wolf who kill or try to kill presidents, former, current or candidates are never lone wolves and always had at the very least the radicalization created by a political party and the general support it give them. There is no such thing as a lone actor killing or trying to kill a top politician.

>>11756 Define "gun." For the creation of what one would usually describe as a gun, you would need very precise tools and high-quality materials. But you could make some crude shotgun out of pipes and scrap metal. Just keep in mind that there's a non-zero chance for this kind of construction to just explode in your hands.

>>13941 They were used in medieval european warfare, i don't think those soldiers lacked arm strength, it's just crossbows can have a power that would simply be a superhuman feat to provide with traditional bows.
Apoc · 2026-06-21 06:56
>>13942 pretty sure some of them lacked arm strength, there's so much effort among the english for instance to cultivate bow strength and skill, +the real longbow men were crazy and trained since very young age to be such. If you can get comparable performance from a normal person, you're doing great. Obviously crossbows can go to higher powers still, but there was a serious effort to grow good bowmen at times. You are not a good bowman, and if perhaps you ever could have become one you've missed the boat. Fair to point out that the romans and greeks used essentially crossbows to get seriously powered projectiles.

>It seems like dark magic that no one reveals it's a rapidly burning chemical mixture of a combustible material and an oxidizer packed into a tube with a projectile in front of it and some kind of ignition mechanism ignites the mixture and the expanding hot gas propels the projectile out of the tube. >it is the most powerful tool to bring about any change in the world not really. political assassinations and revolutions were happening long before guns were invented. weapons technology does not shift the balance of power away from the powerful and towards the weak, if anything it does the opposite because the powerful have access to increasingly more sophisticated and expensive weaponry whereas the weak cannot afford things like nuclear warheads and patriot missiles and predator drones and aerial infrared cameras. the most powerful tool to bring about change in the world is the mind, but all of its power is squandered when its focused on these kinds of ridiculous militia-nut pipe dreams.

The weak do have access to quadcopters with bombs strapped to them though. These have been and continue to be used to devastating effect in places like Lebanon and the Ukraine. They are at the forefront of modern warfare, and are a powerfully democratizing force that the imperial structure has so far failed to adapt to.

>>13944 >>14011 nukes are possibly the only example of a weapon that the powerful have managed to keep for themselves only. But, that's because a lot of the people that made them realized that they were a bad idea and shouldn't exist. Asymmetrical warfare has always been winnable by the "small" side. It just takes effort and a little bit of luck. Just look at Iran, literally their entire leadership structure was obliterated, they have barely any navy to speak of, and they've still got the biggest empire in the world on its knees.

>>14036 >It has the 8th highest number of active military personnel in the world, in a war with the 3rd place holder, on home turf. This is a primarily naval war, and again, they have almost literally no navy while the US navy is overwhelmingly larger than any other in the world (several times bigger, depending on how you count navy size). Iran is also more economically precarious, they don't have spy satellites or any fancy technology like that, and again their leadership got pretty much wiped out in one day. They are most certainly the underdog, if you look at things besides just the number of bodies they can maybe possibly field.
Splicer · 2026-07-05 16:32
>>14025 it's not that iran is "winning" the war, it's that the us does not really have any reasonable accomplishable goals for the war. how do you permanently prevent a country from ever having missiles or nuclear reactors or boats? also there's the little hair in the soup of iran having their hand on the faucet that keeps the petro economy running and keeps the us from collapsing into a recession. it's not really even war so much as a failed shakedown, the us putting the squeeze on iran and chipping away at their business hoping they will cave to us demands, but iran has called the bluff and knows that they can endure whatever us does to them a lot longer than the us can endure having the faucet shut off.

>>14086 "Iran" is not one side. It is run by a group that has killed tens of thousands of Iranians in the recent past and just shoot at random buildings when they are borred to keep the population terrorized and passive. This group of people get to decide if there is war of peace with America. They do not even care if some of them, including the leaders die. I say some moderate rebels, Syria style should receive mysery money and weapons to fight the regime, preferabbly paid forby the Gulf countries that are stacked and hate Iran more than the states does. They will have a civil war, a million or two will die but the rest of the world wouldn't have to care.
