Sharing is caring. Share all books related to /diy/, design, mechanics, chemistry, electronics, etc. I'll upload from time to time some great books that I have downloaded over the years. I hope it helps you fellow laions
fsociety · 2017-06-08 18:25
Not to hate but how many share threads did we have and where are they? Wouldnt it be better to chose some place some persistent place to upload and categorize? Seems like a huge waste of time and bandwith imo.
Hailvim · 2017-06-08 18:56
Oh, and try to upload as much pdfs as possible, so this thread will last as long as possible, to make it something similar to an archive. Also, sorry for the massive size of some pdfs, but there is little I can do about them. Does someone how could I compress them _correctly_ (losslessly) to upload them here? Some are over 40mb One question, could someone erase a watermark in a chemistry pdf? The watermark is basically a sentence across every page, I am sure it would just require some editing in the raw pdf code. Cheers Laions >>302 I do agree with you. I though about uploading it somewhere else and then linking it here. However, it is always nice to have the pdfs presented to you instead of a link that will lead you to the download. Here goes a terrible idea (bandwith consumption would be huge), but we, laions, could create a searchable and comprehensive archive with all the pdfs that are continuously uploaded to lain; allowing for quality checks and organization, but back again, it would take a massive amount of space (compared to how much content is usually available in the entire website 20Gb~) and loads of bandwith due to continuous downloads.>>302

>>506 Ask and you shall receive. First attachment Central Intelligence Agency CIA Lock Picking Field Operative Training Manual There has been much opinion and little fact written on the subject of lock picking. It is the purpose of this book to clarify the facts about this delicate process, and at the same time to train you in proper procedure. Reading this book is certainly enough to get you started picking simple locks, but remember: a great deal of time and patience are needed to become a truly proficient locksmith. In this volume, you will learn the fundamental theories of lock picking in addition to proper terminology, the importance of tool design (i.e. how to select and use the right tool for a given job), the effects of tolerances, and finally the techniques most commonly used by locksmiths to successfully pick the vast majority of standard pin and wafer tumbler locks. Lock picking is a useful, engaging, and satisfying skill; with this book and a little determination, you'll be off to a great start. Second attachment Deviant Ollam Practical Lock Picking A Physical Penetration Tester’s Training Guide 2nd Edition For the first time, Deviant Ollam, one of the security industry's best-known lockpicking teachers, has assembled an instructional manual geared specifically toward penetration testers. Unlike other texts on the subject (which tend to be either massive volumes detailing every conceivable style of lock or brief "spy manuals" that only skim the surface) this book is for INFOSEC professionals that need essential, core knowledge of lockpicking and seek the ability to open most locks with relative ease. Deviant's material is presented with rich, detailed diagrams and is offered in easy-to-follow lessons which allow even beginners to acquire the knowledge very quickly. Everything from straightforward lockpicking to quick-entry techniques like shimming, bumping, and bypassing is explained and shown.Whether you're being hired to penetrate security or simply trying to harden your own defenses, this book is essential. Detailed photos make learning as easy as picking a lock DVD is filled with indispensible lock picking videos and color photos Extensive appendix details tools and toolkits currently available for all your lock picking needs Also checkout the resources on his website http://deviating.net/lockpicking/ Third attachment Advanced Lock Picking Secrets - Steven Hampton - Paladin Press This advanced manual brings locksmithing into the electronic age, with schematic diagrams for portable electronic picks to open magnetic key and card locks plus templates for making custom tools not available on the commercial market. Tips on enhancing finger sensitivity, increasing concentration power, constructing practice lock boxes and more will help you master the art and science of lock picking.
Appleman1234 · 2017-08-19 23:14
>>506 First attachment EN-The Complete Guide To Lockpicking - Eddie the Wire - Loompanics Learn how to open all kinds of locks, plus how to thwart tampering with locks to protect your valuables. This book is intended for legal entry only, but you'll gain confidence knowing that you can get in through any door without a key! For Academic Study Only Second attachment The document formerly known as the MIT Guide to Lock Picking See http://www.capricorn.org/~akira/home/lockpick/mitlg-a4.pdf for a mirror MIT Guide to Lock Picking, written by the mysterious Ted The Tool. This primer was first published in 1987 and has been floating around various websites for the past two decades. And it's still considered an essential introduction to the art of picking locks. Third attachment Hans Conkel How To Open Locks With Improvised Tools Practical, Non-Destructive Ways Of Getting Back Into Just About Everything When You Lose Your Keys Practical, real-world solutions to lockouts. Learn to open doorknobs, deadbolts, car doors, padlocks, handcuffs, et cetera. This book sold out as "Lock Bypass Methods," and has proven to be the best manual on keyless entry available. Since your resources are usually on the other side of the door when you're locked out, it shows how to improvise tools from garbage and common, everday items. Multiple entrance options are provided in case of stubborn doors or limited materials. Thousands of people have successfully opened doors using techniques they learned in "Lock Bypass Methods." This expanded edition has more illustrations and new techniques. This book will not waste your time trying to explain how to pick sidebar locks, or activate magnetic-stripe readers without a key card. It DOES explain how to open doors protected by these locks, simply and without damage, through bypass techniques. A latch holds something shut, and a lock is a gateway to that latch. This book teaches ways to climb over the fence and ignore the gate. You will learn how to pick locks, a skill that works 60-70% of the time. More importantly, you will learn methods to trip actuators, move linkage rods, take advantage of mechanical design flaws, exploit tolerances in a lock's setting, and other practical means of entry. The book's focus is on problem solving, not presenting methods that are too difficult to accomplish. Many other books in this field suffer from too much theory and too little delivery. If it doesn't work, it isn't in here. This book is designed to give the reader skills that open locks without keys or damage. It is not a whitewashed or glossed-over set of instructions that leave a reader feeling as if failure is his fault and he just hasn't developed some special esoteric talent. Difficulties encountered in opening methods are identified, explained, and solutions are given to cope with them. The book is clearly written and illustrated, and covers problem solving, how locks work, picking, bypassing, and tool making. If you are interested in opening locks without keys, you should have this book. Additional resources include http://lockpickernetwork.wikidot.com/ which is wiki for TOLG - Beyond the MIT lock picking guide, for people wanting to make the succesor to the MIT lock picking guide. http://www.gregmiller.net/locks/ Greg Miller's Guide to Lock Picking for Beginners which is a guide to learning lock picking that recommends some of the materials posted here. and https://murdercube.com/files/Spy%20Craft/Unauthorized%20Entry%20and%20Physical%20Security/ https://murdercube.com/files/Locksmithing/ resources from the murdercube repository.

They're from a bygone era where precision components were much rarer and scrap was much more plentiful. He even advises fabricating your own squareness jig in the place of buying a 1-2-3 block that's one to two orders of magnitude more useful for today's price of pennies on the dollar. Nowadays, you're probably better off just buying a chinesium import over burning countless hours scraping in casts, spending money on whatever stock he assumed you could find for free, and still getting a worse tool at the end of the day. About the only thing the Gingery lathe has over cheap imports is swing (though without rigidity and restricted to a faceplate without yet more chasing your own tail around flatness and twist how big is the usable swing really?), and it's not by enough to justify the rest of it imho. You should do smaller parts while learning anyway. If I was to actually attempt this, I'd start by redesigning it to be both even bigger, sturdier, and to take advantage of cheap modern parts, and then I'd finish the castings mostly on my chinesium lathe and mill to cut the time wasted scraping by well over half. Then I'd have an inexpensive large lathe for the biggest parts, reliable (with maintenance) small lathe and mill for precision work, and a real amateur casting project under my belt for hopefully less than the opportunity cost of just buying a small professional lathe or hunting down and repairing some old iron. I haven't even done that, though, because I'm still not confident it'd be good enough to justify over other more unique projects.

>>11165 >I'd start by redesigning it to be both even bigger, sturdier, and to take advantage of cheap modern parts That's the plan (>>11169). The question is where to source off the shelf parts.

>>11165 In a wartime scenario or other long-term disaster, it might be difficult or impossible to order inexpensive precision parts, so the Gingery books would be very good to have around just as they are. In the meantime, you have a point.

>>11770 It would also be pertinent to set a machine up BEFORE things get too bad because you'll have support and practice rather than floundering around and running into problems when you're the least prepared to deal with them

If you know nothing but arithmetic, these three books will provide all the math you need for a physics degree.

This two-volume set of freshman-level physics books is widely used at universities. The third book is a large collection of solved physics problems that can be used for practice.
